We talked to Nuke Boy last night.  After catching up on what's been happening at home and on base, we hung up.  Then my hubby asked "Did you ask him about what precautions they're taking for the hurricane?"  Oops - my bad!!  I was too busy asking the usual Mom questions: "Are you taking your vitamins?  Are you getting enough rest?  What do you mean you don't want me to send a package that you would have to carry from the sub to the barracks?!!"

Welcome Katherine!  My son is an ET assigned to the Virginia.  I haven't heard from him in a while, so not to sure what's going on.  He liked Groton and then after 2 weeks headed to NH.  Says its really nice!!

Hopefully Edwina made there to see her adorable family and she'll give us a full report.  Right Edwina?

Jeanne - have you heard anything from your sailor?  Has he gone mountain biking lately?  We need to help out Katherine!!

Hi everyone. My name is kathrine. My husband just got orders to the USS virginia he has two weeks left in groton then he will be reporting to portsmouth,nh. This is our first boat and our first time getting ready for a deployment so this is completly new experience for the both of us. So if anyone can offer me and tips on being a submariners wife then that would be great. I love getting advice from others who have been through this. So the base isnt really in portsmouth ? I would love info on anything that has to do with the virginia . Well what ever you can tell me on here i kno there are rules about giving out certain info on the computer.

Last time I talked to Matt, he said "they" were motivated in getting him qualified so that he wouldn't be dead weight when they go out to sea.  Sure wish I could remember the term he used.  Sure wish I knew what button I had just pushed that made everything disappear!

I didn't know there was a Facebook page.  How do I find it?  I'm going to shriek with joy if our boys already know each other!!

Jeanne - Matt wants to meet up with Zach.  He called Saturday night to say that he had moved Tuesday from Groton to Portsmouth.  Everything he was telling me, you had already briefed me.  I told him that your son liked to do things outdoors and he said "find out who he is so I can catch up with him!"  He said he got to go on the sub and really likes it.  Matt's an ET.  What area is Zach in?

Thanks Jeanne for the info.  I was getting a headache trying to figure it all out!  I bet Matt will want a kayak too.  He loved snow boarding when he was at Ballston Spa - he would drive over to White Mountain when he could.  I haven't heard from him the past 2 weeks, but that's nothing new - he's TERRIBLE at keeping in touch with the folks back home (let me cue up the violin music).  If you hear anything, please let me know!

Thanks again for the info!  :)

Jeanne -  I thought the sub was in Portsmouth, NH.
