AJ - if you meet a young man named Brent - give him one for me too! We're going over sometime the beginning of next year.
Will Do Mom! I know Katie has arranged a 'meet and greet' so I'm not sure who will be there.
Yes, AJ, please give mine a hug!!! I miss him tons and tons. Have a great time and enjoy your precious daughter!
Morning ladies, We will be leaving for Italy in 18 days, if I happen to meet up with any of your sailors I will give them hugs for you!
Mechanic:
I agree with AJ. Our son has been in Sig for a little over a year. He is on his 3rd car. The roads are terrible. AJ - your daughter might have the same mechanic as our son. The one he has is great & got him a really good deal on the car he has now.
Good morning Chris,
Our daughter (2 years now in Sig.), has a car here at home and decided not to take it. She said it would be worth nothing by now. Instead she bought an 'island beater' from one of her shipmates a few weeks after she arrived. It already had a few dents in it, is quite old and it's a 2 seater, which works fine for her as she is not one to tote a crowd around with her. She also found a local mechanic that has been very good to her as far as repairs are concerned. The insurance that will cover international and domestic is Gieco and USAA. USAA also includes road service.
Make sure he reads his orders thoroughly, everything important is in them. Also, if he has a good mentor, he will be a good source for information.
All my best to him.
AJ
jboys...There will also be classes when they get there on language and customs, a good introduction.
Thank you ladies so much! The information is sooo helpful. My son should get his orders hopefully by tomorrow. His wife and I are going bonkers with lots of questions. We're both the type that likes to know all the details as soon as possible. She said that once he gets his orders, there will be classes and meetings he'll attend to find out more information. We're just still in shock from the news that they'll be moving to Italy. I know it will all work out for them, the unknown is just scary right now.
My sailor has an international text number, I believe it's from AT-T and she also buys calling minutes from Skype.
Do not text until he gets that international number as you will be charged for every text and that adds up real quick. That can be done before he leaves the states.
