My son has been at Dam Neck since June 23rd. He likes A school and I enjoy the fact that he has his cell phone so I can talk to him whenever I want to.

Wow there doesn't seem to be anyone on here since 2009!  Hope I am in the right spot.  My son is "on hold" there at Dam Neck waiting for school to start.

Just finished a great evening eating pizza and playing Phase 10 with Brandon and Savannah (NAS Oceana), Trever (USS Gunston Hall), David (USS Harry S. Truman), Brad (USS George Bush). By the end of the Phase 10 game I think we were all a little flaky! It was fun! We laughed a lot!! Check out the photos on our profile page if you like.

Saturday evening Yvonne and I and Nic (USS Carl Vinson) enjoyed an all you can eat buffet at Pizza Hut, playing 18 holes of miniature golf at Lynnhaven Golf Park, and ice cream at Dairy Queen. Fun evening!

Yvette, It depends on their specialty after "A" school as to how long their "C" school is. Chris had told me 5-13 weeks, but I've read elsewhere 5-15 weeks. He will know just before the end of "A" school what specialty they are going to train him for is the way I understand it. There is also a discussion page set up now for IS sailors. We have lots of moms there with kids in "A" school, bc getting ready to go to Dam Neck and a few with kids already in the fleet. We have one whose son graduates "A" school in I believe 3 weeks, maybe yours is in his calss? One just graduated this past Friday and is home on leave right now. Have a good day and come check out the IS page!

Yvette,

Yvonne and I have been to several graduations and parents are welcome to attend. Find out from your son where the school is located on Dam Neck and what time the graduation ceremony is. Sometimes the servicemen don't know until they are told to get ready for it. But if they check they can find out for you. The ceremonies are usually not very long (20 to 45 minutes). But they are usually nicely done.

Hi!

I just wanted to wish all of you moms with sailors in school in Virginia a very Merry Christmas. Being on NavyforMoms had been a learning experience for me. In all of my years associated with the Navy, I've never known, let alone appreciated how you all feel when your sons or daughters join the service. Reading the comments many of the moms have made on here I have a whole new understanding of your feelings, sometimes painful ones, especially during this time of year. This has been really enlightening for me. It's added a whole new dimension to my prayers life. Believe me when I say I will be praying for you all with much deeper understanding!

Hi!

Yvonne and I recently joined NavyForMoms.com and are just getting our feet wet figuring out how to get around here. We've only been on Facebook for about two months.

We have a home away from home here in Virginia Beach and get together every weekend (Saturday evenings for fun and games. And Sunday afternoons for a big home cooked meal, and fellowship.)

Check out our web site for more info. If you would like to be part of a "family " while you're in the area contact us.

Happy Labor Day Weekend Stasi,

Thanks for answering my question about A school! That is wonderful that your son is applying to the Naval Academy. In case he doesn't have the website address it is USNA.edu
