Just got back from Virginia Beach and my sons C school graduation. It was fun to see him in his environment and to sight see around the area. We went and stood on the pier where the Big E is docked but didn't go on. Twas a fun weekend!

Thanks everyone, I am so excited to enlist, I have been thinking about this for awhile and my bf is also in and is very supportive and is encouraging me to do it. I am looking at CS, I want to be a Pastry Chef, but school is so expensive and the Navy has so much to offer. I currently work with food and really enjoy it so I thought it would be the best rate. I am so excited for hearing that everyone's Sailor is doing good. I will keep you guys posted. Thank You again for the Support.

Kari - that would be great if he could get his degree in MT! Aaron wants Nuclear engineering, so MT is out - But Oregon is his first choice.! I'm glad he has a good jump on hte application - he is ahead of the game already.

Kari! Wonderful!! Keep us updated how it goes! the wait from July til Oct is hard...lol Airwarriors.com is a good place to watch for results.... they seem to have a way to watch the message traffic. I started watching that site hourly starting the 1st of Oct....results finally came out 10/19.....
have you checked out https://www.sta-21.navy.mil web page?
Its not quite for free.... they do get 10,000 a yr and their normal salary and housing allowance. which is amazing...... and I think that they can use there montgomery bill• Here is info from the sta-21 page.
The VA has authorized the use of the Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB) benefits (Chapter 30 of Title 38) to pay for courses after the service member's STA-21 funds are exhausted, as long as payment is for different courses and not combined to pay for the same course.

•Receive full pay and allowances including BAH and BAS for their enlisted pay grades.
•Be eligible for enlisted advancement.
•Receive up to $10,000 per year, paid to the university to supplement the costs of tuition, fees, and books.
•Upon successful degree completion, be commissioned as active duty Ensigns in the United States Navy (USN). (View current officer and enlisted pay tables from DFAS web site.)
•Maintain medical care and commissary/exchange privileges.
•Be eligible for base housing (area permitting).

Hello everyone, I am from a town close to Billings and I am currently trying to enlist. I might have to go and get 15 College Credits because I only have my GED, but it will be well worth it to represent our amazing state!

Congrats, Carol...that is awesome for your son!

lol Thank you :) its a Officer program for enlisted Sailors - there were over 700 applicants and 115 selected. Aaron's odds were a little higher since he is in the Nuke program - they select more Nukes. I think about 90 nukes applied and 30 were selected. he started the application process last March and we just found out that he was selected 2 days ago! He will go to Officer school for 2 months and then college for 3 yrs and then back through the Nuke pipeline that he is just finishing but now he will learn the Officers side
