Has anyone heard about the cruise book for sale? Some of the ones on the TR have received notice of the one of the TR. Things have been too quiet on this group. Is everyone tired of this weather? Looking forward to Spring!!

Debbie...General Patreaus is the General in charge of the war in Iraq. It is an honor to have him visit the Monterey.

Just got an E-mail from Josh and he said that General Patreaus was on the Monterey for a Thanksgiving ceremony. Josh reenlisted today and he said that General Patreaus gave him the oath and also gave him a coin. I know there must be others reenlisting but Josh was really excited. I'm proud of him and the other sailors that have to spend the holidays away but not apart from their families. Don't forget the Army-Navy game next Saturday at noon where pictures of the Monterey steel beach picnic will be shown. Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey Debbie...That just proves what I have told my children...you have to behave because everywhere you go someone will know someone that knows you and news travels fast! HA! So happy you have heard from Paul and I'm sure he will keep in touch more. Josh says he knows of him but doesn't see him much because Paul is usually on deck and Josh is an ET.

I E-mailed Josh too so maybe he will get the message from all who are E-mailing their sons! We need to hear from them as much as they need to hear from us. I'm certain Paul will reach you soon. Take care.

I will have to check with my daughter-in-law since she is in Norfolk and attends the meetings. Will get back with you.

The money was to help provide for Christmas party and other get togethers and they also sell shirts and teddy bears with the Monterey patch on them.

Have any of you heard from the FRG (Family Readiness Group) with sailors on the Monterey? They had a fund raiser to obtain extra money for the families and to go towards the Homecoming? It was a sale of Yankee Candles. When Josh was on his last deployment, I would receive a monthly newsletter concerning happenings on the ship and activities for the families. This time I have not received the newsletter. Has anyone heard from the FRG?
