Thinking of spending Thanksgiving in JAX with son. Does anyone know of good restaurant in Jacksonville for TG dinner? Does the base pretty much close for Thanksgiving? Thanks for any information.
zzsmom the inspection sticker is not required in Florida. I would ask your dmv what she needs to do. When it was registered last I would have thought they would have noted the expiration date. There might be a form she can fill out and have a sheriff here sign to verify the date.
She also may just want to register it here or see about getting a temp while she is here in school. Has she gotten orders to where she might go after school here is done? If she does decide to register here make sure she takes a copy of her orders so they wave the $225 fee they charge here.
So here is the current "issue" if you call it that. The Sailor girl got her renewal for her car tags in the mail today which really is not an issue because all of that can be done by mail. The issue it does bring up is that Texas, where the car is titled, requires a state inspection. That inspection sticker is on the windshield with the tags and visibly shows the expiration date. How does she go about getting a new inspection sticker without bringing the car home to Texas? Or is it even required until/unless that car does come back to Texas?
Thanks for the update navymom3, my son doesn't tell me much these days and I always want to know the news from JAX.
Tee we are all good here in Jacksonville. We got a little wind yesterday and it is just sprinkling today so far. We might get more rain as it keeps moving. We will just be getting the outside bands.
I'm out in California....are you all going to be OK and not slammed by Issac??
All the BEST to Dune and your whole family. I'm sure we'll see each other on another group too.
Navymom3 i am so sorry that i did not get your post before we left. Sure would have loved to meet up with you. Your town is huge and beautifull.
Dune is off to his next base on the other side of the country. Yep he said he wanted to see the world so he is getting it, well the USA to start with. He is very excited and mom, well i am but he sure keeps getting further andfurther away.
I want to thank you all for your support over the last year and wish you and your Sailors the best of life. Maybe we will meet up again on another board.

Yes, congrats gabbyhat! I know her training was long & hard. I'll be there Thanksgiving week. I might be staying at the Navy Lodge, depends on my son's current living situration...it's in transition right now.
Congrats Gabbyhat on the wedding. That will be a story to tell the grand kids later.
I would love to meet up with you ladies when you come to town. We also have a guest room if anyone needs a place to stay. We are about 30 minutes from NAS JAX.
