Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by Tee-1sailor's mom on June 7, 2012 at 9:49am: From what my son describes, the rooms are a lot like college dorms. Usually 2 to a room. They can have food but only as much as can be kept in a small fridge and their limited storage space. They have a microwave too. Eating healthy and not spending a lot of $$ was a real challenge for him because they often aren't around when the Galley is open due to work schedules. I don't know how many rates that applies to but it did to mine.

Becky, 6 months...and yes it was hard.

My son is currently in SERE, and will move to NAS Jax in a couple of weeks for C school. He thinks he will be there about 9 months, but I'm sure it will depend on when he classes up. Where is your sailor? It's fun to follow all of this, isn't it.
