Anyone in the area who likes chicfilet, check this out, it's for VP 16, Family Support Group:
This Thursday from 5-8 PM is Spirit Night at Chickfila at the Towncenter. What this means is that everyone who comes in and mentions vp-16 when purchasing their food, a percentage of their purchase goes to the FRG. We need this fundraiser to be a success.
What can you do to help?
Come to Chickfila Thursday evening for dinner and tell all you friends, family, neighbors, etc. Facebook them, text them, email them, call them, etc.
Thanks much, the War Eagles Family
I'm back! Had a wonderful visit with Dune. Even got to meet a couple of his friends. Such great guys and the one gal i got to meet was so nice and a cutie too. Dune says oh mom we are just friends. got to bug him a little ya know. I have to say Jacksonville is one huge city. not take in mind that i live in a little bitty town so was a bit overwhelmed with all the cars. Enjoyed the hotels on base very much and was so sorry to have to leave. OH Thank you Kalynn for the birthday singing to my Son:) So glad that ZZ is getting to work on those planes more. Yack more later:)
Hi everyone. I have been a little out of touch lately but wanted to check in and send a shout out to Kalynn for taking time to meet my girl. ZZ really enjoyed herself and it means more to me than you can ever imagine. Hugs to you and your Sailor as your family transitions to your new base.
So, I am not going to get to go back to Jacksonville for Easter as I had planned. I am rather sad but economically I can't swing it right now.
Since I was last on ZZ has been switched to mid-shift where she works 10p - 630 a. She is having a rough time shifting her sleep schedule but is really enjoying the job more. She says without all the higher rank around she is actually getting to work on the planes.
Welp, thats all I have for now. Hugs to all you ladies. I really appreciate this forum.
Anyone else want me to give a momma hug to their Navy kids? Oh i could embarrass Dune so bad ha ha ha...
Ok anyone who is in Jacksonville would you go outside and as loud as you can sing to my Son. It's his birthday today and he has his phone shut off or has lost it again. Thanks bunches:)
I hear ya Jackie, i have been having a real hard time not seeing my boy. I rarely get to talk to him, such crappy service for those phones and well he is busy i'm sure doing what he's doing. Hang in there May is right around the corner. when we go down there Dune said he would let me meet his friends this time so warn Dan that i'm a hugger and i'll give him a hug from his momma:)
Great questions, great answers. So glad that graduation and all visits were good. Well how could they not be good, you all got to spend some time with your Sailors:) sure makes me smile. Jackie are you going to see Dan for Easter? We will be heading down the end of the month to see Dune. He called last night and said we are all set up at the Gateway. I can hardly wait!
gabbyhat glad you had a nice visit. Sorry the weather was rainy when you where here. But we needed the rain. At least it wasn't snow. Let me know when you come again so we can meet up.
Hi ladies,
Just got back from spending five days with my sailor dtr in JAX....nice base, met alot of her buddies and got a tour of a P3 and alittle of VP-30...everyone(instructors) very nice..stayed at the Gateway Inn in one of those suites on the water...very pretty...just wish the weather had been a little more cooperative,,,rainy, but I guess tis the season...she is starting her fourth week of AWF training...long way to go...so hopefully will be planning another visit soon...
Jackie m son had verbal orders about a month before a school graduation but he is ctm so they might be different. He didn't get his written until just after graduation. Mine was not able to leave right after grad as he ended up with c school even though he had 6 weeks to wait until it started. He could have came home for part of it but had a good on hold job and didn't want to loose it. Most of the class got to leave after graduation. My son is now in Yokosuka Japan. It was sort of his first choice he wanted overseas. He finished top of his class so he got to choose from Japan and washington state. When you son gets his orders he will need to request to take his leave before reporting to his duty station. They can take what they have earned so depends on how long he has been in. The earn 30 days per year. If they are going overseas sometimes they will let them go in the hole but most don't want to.
If you plan on staying the weekend and your son gets to leave he can spend it showing you around. Until your flight back. If he stays you will be there to spend the weekend with him. Hope this helps.
