Gabby I found this site online. There is a lot of places listed on here. And they all have web sites. I know that Orange park is right outside the base. And St Augustine is only 35 miles away. Eagle Harbor is also a real nice area and it is close by.

Hi Dunesmom and ZZsmom...my dtr is also in VP30...has lived in barracks there since mid Oct after she finished SERE. She finally classes up first of Feb...dont know bout the shared kitchen though have heard her mention it once or twice...she usu has Lean Cuisines, salads, yogurt and the like...dont think you can have a George Foreman. I did send her my old Tassimo coffee/tea maker after I got a Keurig for my Bday. As far as making their room their own...she does have her own bed linens and spread...Pcola was much stricter about gear adrift...I'll ask her...
Also, Navymom3...need to ask u a question since u live there...do u know of any small venue on base or near base that one can reserve or rent for small gathering (said dtr just informed me that she and fiance, also Navy, are getting married May 26th of Memorial Day weekend) am very happy, but nothing like short notice...lol! thanks in advance! My daughter is VP30 also. She said the room they have her in are only temporary while she still classified as a student for a week and half. But they did tell her yesterday that they are repainting the "permanent " housing so she may actually stay where she is 4-6 weeks.
How much are they allowed to make their space their own?

not sure where he lives on base but he is in vp30 if that helps It's like the dorms in college where everyone can use the oven/stove.  I seen on tv today that there is a good seafood place in Mayport called Singletons to try.
