He is VP30 student, actually starts class tomorrow and i'm excited for him!  Said he is going to have his butt worked off at PT..which is good as boot was not what he expected.

Dunesmom is he staff or student at VP30?? my hubby is staff.. they have two holiday leave shifts. the first is off the 16 thru the 27th and the second the 23 thru jan 3... IF they have the leave days to take off... Everyone gets the 23-27th off not going against leave, and the 31 thru the 3rd.

Personally we arent going home this year since we dont have the money so hubby isnt using any of his leave so hell just get the christmas and new years days off

dunesmom if he needs a home cooked meal or anything my house is open. my middle sailor will be here next sat for leave before heading to japan. But my older son works at NAS not sure which building. I know it's the first building on the left as we walked into the air show.

Sorry about his Grandma passing away. I am sure she lived a long happy life.

Heard from my Son last night, his Grandma passed away so we had a good talk.  Then he informed me that he will not be able to come home for Christmas.  Has to stay and do whatever for VP30 over the holidays.  You know i was pretty upset at first but the more i thought about it it will allow another Sailor to go home and maybe they haven't been for a while.  it will be different but we'll see him hopefully in April.  Take care All

ZZ- My son's first roommate at NAS was his buddy from BC which was great. Then when they went to Corry he ended up with a different roommate. He was an IT. Kept leaving his hair trimmings on the floor in the bathroom. My son said they got a hit on it when they started random inspections. He asked him to clean it up but he didn't of course. My son finally decided it was easier to clean it up daily then get a hit. He was happy when he graduated and left. He then had no roommate since middle of sept until last week just before leaving for thanksgiving. Again another IT so we will see. He told my son he would be gone by monday as he was going to be put in the IT barracks. My son enjoyed his time with no roommate. Said he would live with this one for the next 2 weeks as that is when he finally grads c school. I bet it would get boring after a while with no roommate. Mine has been there so long now I don't think he spends a lot of time in his room anymore.

She is an AM so I don't think she is Aircrew.  She has gotten lucky so far at A School that she hasn't had a roommate but does get a little down sometimes with no one to talk to. Guess it is better than having a roommate from hell! She is just getting really tired of microwave meals and the Mess Hall.  I was hoping that she might get a real kitchen or perhaps the ability to have a convection oven.  Doesn't sound like that is going to be the deal.  Guess she better hurry up and take that E4 test so she can house of base.   Thank you everyone for all your quick answers, it sure does help.

my Son is Aircrew and i know there is a common area for cooking/baking.  It's where he cooks steaks for his crew.  He has a microwave and fridge and a roommate not.  He sure was enjoying the room to himself but when he got back from SERE tada... and i hope everything is clean with all the duty everyone is doing.  Or is that just what i'm being told, ha ha...

ZZs she can take leave until she reports or she can report early up to her. My hubbys orders said nlt Dec 7th to report to his command, but he reported the day he was seperated from his school house he in jax, so he could save leave for christmas.

A guy just walked in who lives in barracks, its dorm room style, mini fridge, micowave, and roommate. Some rooms have all new furniture, said they are really clean... UNLESS they are Aircrew. Aircrew has apt style barracks

I dont know what the inside is like exactly. I know they have a mini fridge and a desk and a bed I know the outside is nice, and that they are way less strict on the guys than Aschool barracks.

I don't know how the barracks are. Even though my son is single he lives off base.

Maybe someone else knows what they are like??
