MOrning ladies, 6ldahoans, I have been up there to visit my son and his family serveral timme ove the past 3 years that he has been stationed there. I love the area. Alittle bit county nad close enough to Washington so that you could do a day trip there which we have done. My son and daughter in law really like living there. My son is being trandfered to Yorktown (2 1/2 hours south next month but my daughter in law and grandbaby are staying in their home there and he will come home on the weekends that way there she can keep her job as she works for the Navy and hr office is on base. I am sure you would enjoy a visit there to see you sailor. How long has he been in?

I don't get on here often, but happy to find a group for Pax River!  My son is stationed there.  Have any of you had the opportunity to visit your family member stationed there?

It's different depending on what they are advancing for...1st Class (E6) Advancement Test was yesterday, 2nd Class (E5) Advancement will be next Thursday the 13th, and 3rd Class (E4) Advancement Test is Thursday September 20th. Results usually come out the week of Thanksgiving, good luck to all!

How long does your son have at PAX? I know for a while I was reading that they were shorthanded with ship duty and were even offering some bonuses to take a new command. I hope he gets to go back on a ship if that is what he likes. Matt doesnt know the difference yet, so I guess nothing to compare it to. He also said the doctors and staff where very nice to work with. He just informed us last week that he got "written up" to receive the Navy Achievement Medal for saving a lot of money on supply orders. Hope he gets it - as you know one more thing to add to the brag sheet. I would like to get down to see him, but afraid work committments are stopping that from happening. Matt will be there 1 year in Nov. He has a 2 yr committment at PAX, but if something comes up more interesting I think he would consider it. I personally would love being on a ship & see as much as possible. Talk soon. L

Hi Group!  My son graduates MA school on 8/31 then he's heading to NAS Pax River.  So I figured I should join your group.  I'm thrilled since we live in PA and Maryland is not so far away.  We can do alot of visits!
