Dan, I guess that all depends on what you son wants out of his career with the Navy. It sounds like he just wants to be close to home. Being young and single he should spread his wings some and try to see the world. My son was young and single when he first went in at 18 and that was 17 1/2 years ago. He has lived in some wonderful places and would do it all over again. Now that he is a Chief and husband and dad being closer to home(13 hours) is a good thing for him. What does your son expect from the Navy?

My son plans to request Pax River for his next duty station to be close to home. He's young and single, would this be a good choice?

Laura talked with my daughter in law and she said that there really isn't any way of getting there unless you have a car. Public trans is really bad in that area. She said that she wouls ask around when she gets back home next week.

Thanks Karen!  Maybe another campus is closer...not sure.. We went down last week to pick up Matt & brought him home for Xmas..did not get a chance to explore the area at all. It was a really quick pickup! As usual, thank you for your assistance!

Hi everyone... Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Wishing all a happy and healthy 2012!   I have a question: how would one get transportation from gate 2 to College of S.Maryland's Leaonardtown campus?  Our corpsman does not have a car and wondering what others do to get around. Thanks !!

The kids love being so close to Washington for times like this. They had a wonderful time at the Gala and the Game.
