Thanks for the info... I have a question, seems like there is no wifi in the mods? My son had us ship his computer & now told us there is no internet? Does anyone know details of how one might get internet in the single housing? Thx!

Laura, Yes now that he is working he will meet more sailors and I am sure one of them have a car. It is always harder in the beginning. I remember hearing the same thing from Steven alll those years ago. Pax River is a very nice little town and so close to Washington. I am sure he will be just fine and make lots of new friends. Hang in there.

Nan, Congrats on your sailors first duty station and being only 5 hours away. It will give you the chance to see them more often. Don't know to much about the base housing as Steven lives off base in a home that they bought. Take care ladies and have a great day.

Thanks Karen! Any info. would be helpful. I talked with my son this evening & he said out of the 6 in the mod, he really has only seen 1 other sailor since last week. I asked if they would take turns making dinner, etc.. he said probably not. Without a car, is it very difficult to get around at PAX? Also, he has questions on wireless for his laptop (we have not shipped this yet - if he doesnt have wi fi, what's the sense)Thanks for the info!! My son did say he started at the clinic today & seemed to enjoy the first day. He is working in family practice - pediatrics. L

Laura, I am not sure if there is or not. I will have to ask my son. They live off base in a home they bought last year, Steven has been in for 17 years now and is a Chief so things are alittle different for him. But I will ask him and let you know. I know that is away until Thursday so it might be the end of the week before I get back to you.

Karen: Is there a common cafeteria or something similiar for the singles to eat? My sailor mentioned that they have to cook for themselves?? Just wondering if you can give me some info about single life at the base. Thanks!

Laura, Sorry to hear about your son I wish Steven and his family wasn't out of town I would have him get in touch. I am sure that there will still be a few sailors in town over the weekend. He can always take a ride up to Washington and see the sights. Happy Thanksgiving

My son just arrived at PAX on Tues. afternoon.. he is finding it hard to find guys to hang around with. and . seems as if the base is shut down for the Tgiving holiday until Monday. Any suggestions?  I kind of feel bad for him even though we had an early Tgiving holiday this past Sunday before he left. Thanks!

Kalynn, My son and daughter in law are at Pax and they really love it there. They have been there for almost 2 years and have a 18 month old little girl. My son grew up here in Florida and they were looking to get Jax but ended up in Pax. But it weas still alot closer then Italy where they were before. I am sure you will settle in in no time. Congrats
