Ok guys, need a couple of prayers. I have old horse that is having problems and we don't know what is causing them. We've had the vet out 3 times now and we still have not tracked it down. He is dehydrated, has the trots and won't eat. I am going out 4 times a day right now and trying to work in between times. This is my DS horse and I haven't heard from him in a week and 1/2. I need to tell him, but am dreading it. Fortunately we have one of the best veterinarian schools in the nation about 50 miles from here, but have a storm blowing in and I am really praying that he holds his own so that we don't have to haul him in the storm. Definately not something that I want do. He's on about 6 different medications and most of them can not be given within 2 hours of another one. The vet wanted me to do shots, however, I've done that an am extremely uncomfortable with it. I admire you nurses and PAs etc. I do fine with everything but giving shots. Anyway, a prayer for the horse, my DS and me.....I'm very tired and worried.
KUNavy - I'm fortunate as my DS will be coming home sometime next month as his squadron time is over and he will be instructing at VFA-122 in Lemoore. He is already over his time with the Squadron because they extended his time, however, VFA-122 wants him there. We don't have a date and I suppose that it will be when he can get a seat on a cargo plane to the nearest commercial airport.
Flyboymom- I love those full-house weekend parties!! My son brought one of his roommates for Thanksgiving weekend and it was so much fun!! We had only met his roommate at OCS PIR so it was nice to get to know him!
Sheila- I remember when my son texted me that he passed his- I was so relieved (and so was he!) My son is in Primary in Corpus, so we're back to short texts, also! Oh, well!!
Sheila....Congrats on that milestone!
Thanks for the deployment info.... I was just curious. I thought it was about 6-9 months, so this sounds about right. I agree that the ways of the Navy (all military) are mysterious! My DS is still RAG/FRS, and I thought he would just stay in Lemoore. But I guess that is not a guarantee either. Hoping he won't spend the next 3 years in Japan, and will be in the states, but that is still a "mystery" right now, I guess. :) I think I better just prepare for anything.
Not from Michigan, but close - the Chicago area. We are soon going to celebrate the first anniversary of that huge blizzard last Groundhog's Day! :-)
Glad to hear that all our kids are safe!! Have a good weekend!!
A usual deployment is between 5-7 months on a carrier. There are several pre-deployment cruises that take from 2-4 weeks in between times. My DS went to his squadron from the RAG/FRS in March 2009 but his first acgtual deployment was September 2010. He go back in March 2011 and is out there again. It was a bit sooner than usual I guess as the Abe is due for nuclear replenishment in Norfolk in May 2012. He won't complete the crise as his assignment to the squadron is over and he will be coming home early to be an instructor with VFA 122. Kathy- hope that helps some.
Since "we" are still completing flight training, deployment comes next. Can anyone share about how long they are gone - my DS is an F-18 pilot so will be on the carrier. Thanks!!
He was trying to tell me that the reason that he didn't send me a b-day email a week ago was because they cut off communications, but I think he forgot. Oh well, he at least did acknowledge it. Sort of fun to lay on the guilt however. I'm glad that he is through the Strait and apparently they are doing 2 flights a day. They weren't flying for quite some time, so he's glad to be up in the air again.
AH - we have a neighbor and classmate of my DS on a carrier over there, too. I am thinking it sounds like the same one! Praying that they all stay safe, and I also talked with her family - trying to stay calm knowing that they are supported all around and from above... And they are all the best at what they do!
Well, it looks like Iran left my DS's carrier going through the Strait of Hormuz alone. I understand that they are flying missions again. Hope everyone is doing well
