I just read that it was one of the pilots who shot the brother (pilot) and the sister plus the other party. Our kids go through so much stress in their jobs. I am assuming that we'll never know exactly what happened, but I know all of us will be there for our kids when they need it. Just to blow off steam. As they progress further, the responsibilities and the pressures get more intense. They work more hours and with the competition being what it is, the pressure to succeed is even more. My prayers are for all the families involved.
On another somber note, I heard on the nightly news, that Iran is cheering that the Stennis was leaving, saying that there threats were taken to heart and that it was their show of force that caused them to leave. Of course, the Stennis was scheduled to leave the area and 2 others - one of them my DS is on are sailing into the area in the very near future. My prayers are that all of this can be settled peacefully and without the US having to do their own "Show of Force", but I'm confident that the training that all of our loved ones have been given over the years is up to the task.
Wishing you and yours a happy, healthy and SAFE New Year. My guy is adjusting to Japan and just hopes that his furniture and stuff will arrive from Norfolk before they head to sea again. Christmas was really hard; first time in 24 yr. he wasn't home. Guess I'll have to get used to it, if one ever does. Anyone else have someone in VAW 115? Conor seems to think they are a great group.
His best friend from ROTC is in the 5th. I am praying for Isaac and all the rest of the fleet.
I was thinking the same thing. While my DS's boat is still in transit from the States, I can see them getting involved in this.
Merry Christmas everyone. We are having a nice quiet Christmas. It started in the best possible way. My DS called from the Abraham Lincoln. We almost missed the call as I was outside iwth the blind pup and walked in the door and the phone was ring. He sounded good. When asked where he was, his reply that he was somewhere in the Pacific. No White Christmas for him. My DH and I then went and took some photos of the snow. He's upstairs processing them now. I'm watching a tv show and enjoying the quiet. We did go out and give the horses their Christmas treats of apples and carrots. Our poor old guy, TJ, 28 years old with no teeth, took quite some time to finish his, but I think he enjoyed it all the same. Will have dinner here in a couple of hours.
This is wishing you all a very Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas! Leslie, I'll pass Conor's sentiments on to my son. Good to know.
We finally got another email from DS yesterday. Apparently there was a bunch of procrastination in getting things done before deployment and they are making it all up now. He said that fortunately, everyone in the squadron and airwing are getting it done and the have their goals set for the cruise. I was actually hoping that they were going to have a little rest time on the cruise across the Pacific, but I guess that isn't to be. He says that he has about an hour a day that he isn't working before going to bed. Although that may be more that he was getting before they left.
Jeff and I bought the snow blower about 4 years ago and this is the 2nd time we've used it. Although we've had snow, it seemed silly to pull it out for just a couple of inches. We also cleaned off the 2 neighbors sidewalks. They had done the driveways, but the walks weren't done yet. They were grateful so it was worth it. Especially since the neighbor to the West broke his hand earlier in the week and was in a splint.
I hope that everyone has a good holiday. If you are traveling, safe trips and enjoy.
Whoever invented the snow blower is a genius. Especially since we no longer have our DS to dig us out. I guess it is a good thing that he can't come home this Christmas. Of course when we had the big snow (bigger than last night) in 2006, he and 2 others from the area in Primary had to rent a car and drive up since their flight was cancelled. All the snow was cleared, with some help from our younger neighbor before he got here. It sure is pretty however. I think we will have a White Christmas this year even if it doesn't snow on Christmas. This isn't going anywhere for awhile.
Kabar, mine just completed primary and is moving to Kingsville. He had indicated that all of the aviators usually live on Padre Island. Mine liked being close to the other aviators. Not sure that helps.
Wonderful dinner last night with Flyboymom and Nancy W, their husbands and one very special aviator - I had to hug him twice - Flyboymom and Flyboydad, Billy is such a fine young man - thank him again for joining us. Nancy and her husband get their boy home this week. Mine will stay in JAX, first time in 27 years he will not celebrate Christmas with us.
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday - all you great moms and dads and your special kids are in my thoughts!
Does any one else have an Ensign, recently assigned and checked into Whiting for Primary, being told they may have to cut their leave short to move to Corpus Christi next week for Primary? Sitting on pins and needles... he just moved to Milton 2 weeks ago.
