Nancy - my DS' winging in Meridian was in May, so it was warm, but not as hot as the previous August when he first got there, and we thought we would visit. Best sweet iced tea ever!! He moved to Lemoore in June, so he is a little ahead of those who are just arriving in Lemoore.

It is so interesting to read all the different stages out kids are in, and all the different stages

So true, James! Same problem here... and I teach, so I only travel during the peak times! We will not get to see him for Christmas this year, and I am afraid he will finish and deploy before summer. I will figure something out, though. Best of luck to your DS - as I said, the photos they send back are incredible!! Did your DS get hornets? Let us know which squadron - my DS is in VFA-122.

James - my son was hoping for Norfolk, too, but got Lemoore. It's also far from the midwest, but they are seeing some beautiful places out there on weekend trips, and making the most of it. I am feeling better about it when I read other N4M posts about Lemoore. I just can't figure out when I will be able to see them.... was wishing we were able to go to that air show. However, he called today and they are sending him out of town for the weekend to continue training while the air show is in Lemoore - so I guess that wouldn't have worked anyway. At least there is skype!

Flyboymom....You need to issue a tissue warning before you post stuff like that!  How wonderful on your son and famiily to put into words their love for you.

@Navywife and mom...thanks for clearing that up for me. I was a bit confused! How long was advanced and how long is the FRS training? The training seems endless!

Lynn, just sent you a PM with my cell number.  We fly in tomorrow afternoon in LA and will drive from there.
