The call signs that stick are the ones they usually get on their first perm assignment.  Its usually after they do something dumb.  Mine got "peaches".

They will have call signs pretty much with each part of the training.  At OCS he was "Hannah Montana" because he is from Tennessee.  He has had two more since then.  They were pretty lame, (just something random) so I'm sure they will figure out a new one at Lemoore.  The guys take it all in stride, it's part of being an aviator.

Nancy W - I just sent you a private message with my contact info through your "inbox" rather than posting on our personal pages.  Let's try to talk on Thursday, thx!

Leslie - so glad you are back in the game!!  Love reading the stories about the boys - maybe I could arrange to have my son's "GF" meet one of your boys and she could sweep one of them off their feet................................................ha ha

From what I am hearing - there is a desperate shortage of pilots at the current deployment sites - he might end up going early after all.

Leslie, Thank you for speaking to your husband.  I will certainly go on line and look up the Best Western.  I like to go places others have already been and they can recommend it.  My son will be going to JAX in Oct. and fly P3s also.  He is so anxious to move on to that portion of his training.  You are so lucky to be  living that close to your boys.  I'm in Michigan and won't get to see my son much.

Not with us either. Winged Friday, orders Monday, movers Friday, and needs to get from Meridian, MS to Lemoore CA by next Wednesday, SERE the following Monday.  My explanation I got was that the Rac's are ready for them because it has been 4 months since the last boat.  Was hoping he could come home for a few days, oh well.

I'll be going to my son's winging ceremony in corpus on Oct. 7th.  Can anyone recommend a good hotel to stay at?  I've heard the Navy Lodge was so-so.  I really don't want to pay over $75/night though.
