Hi Lynn, thanks for the good wishes.  The winging ceremony was wonderful.  20 handsome new Aviators, Navy, Marine and French Navy!   His report date at Lemoore is the same as your DS's, not sure what the report date is at Oceana.  I think they are trying to fit in SERE before he reports. We were able to stay at the NAS Gateway Inn on base for $45 a night for a 2 room suite, internet, and continental breakfast. A regular room with kitchenette was $35.  What a deal!!

This post was on my facebook.... I thought it was worth sharing with each of you, and your families:‎

31 lost, 31 unwanted visits, 31 doors receive that dreaded knock, 31 families with shattered hearts, 31 pairs of boots lined up with rifles and dog tags and helmets, 31 comrades remembered and grieved for, 31 funeral services, 31 names on newly made grave markers, 31 empty places at the table, 31 souls who gave all, whose lives leave a void, let's take 31 seconds to re-post this and pause to reflect on such a sacrifice as 31 gone forever... Thank you to ALL of "OUR" Service Men and Women!

We hold each of them, their Moms and families, in our hearts...

Leslie,

Congratulations on Brian's winging.  I am so sorry you could not make it, but I hope you are feeling better now.  Andy attended the winging and said it was very nice.

Rose,

I am so glad your DS did really well on his forms flights.  He is awesome.  Take care.

What a beautiful prayer, Chris. Thanks for sharing. This is such a difficult day...

This is just too sad. I'm tearing up and yet I know that. What the families really need are our prayers. Such a tragic loss.

Thoughts and prayers to those who lost their lives this week... And of course, to the families, especially their Moms. We know they are putting their lives on the line, but we don't really expect this, and we can't prepare. We are just going to look out for each other, and try to focus on the celebrations whenever we can. These young people are our heroes. God bless those who have fallen this week!

They are rentng a house in Lemoore neighborhood, so it is a quicker drive to the base for him. He had heard the same recommendation. My DIL has yet to find a permanent job, and she may have to drive if she has to go to one of the nearby towns. But they decided her schedule would be easier than his. And, of course, for us midwesterners, she won't have to worry about snowy conditions! Is your son going to SEREs now? Mine did not go because of his wedding, so he has that to look forward to at the end!

Kathy-He is supposed to get there by the 3rd week of Sept.  An experienced aviator recommended that he live closer to the base this time because of the long days and busy schedule.  Where did your DS find a place?

Michelle...I am sure a few of the Texas mom wish you could send some of your weather to them:)

Our weather here in Northern CA has been perfect this summer!

TNavymom - My DS and DIL just arrived in Lemoore in June. He is anxious for that first flight in the superhornet. Let us know when your DS gets there!
