Thank you, Shelia!! Moms of pilots, and look what we do to see our sons! :o)
Funny.....
I thought that SW flew to Corpus. I'm pretty sure that was how we got there several years ago. We flew into San Antonio for his winging however.
I'm flying to Corpus in Oct. for my son's winging ceremony and am torn between flying into San Antonio or Corpus. Even though Corpus is more expensive, it may be worth it when you take into account gas and a rental car to get me to and from Corpus. Since I'm traveling alone, I'm not sure I would appreciate the sites of San Antonio without having someone to share them with. My son tells me to keep checking on Bing.com travel. He has even said that buying his ticket the day before he left one time wasn't any more expensive that buying it 2 months in advance. That's someting to consider anyway.
Chris - I agree... these guys are awesome! My son was able to come home for his Grandpa's visitation, too, although it did not change his schedule too much. I know they want to be with their families whenever they are needed, and certainly want them to be with us. I have been able to get to know a few of his aviator friends on visits or special events - they are great!
Can't help with the CC travels. My son was there but I was unable to visit during that time. I think he flew in and out of San Antonio, and again from CC.
Anyone ever travel to Lemoore? I won't be going right away - they just got married in June, then moved from Meridian to Lemoore. I think they need some time to settle in. But I hope to get there sometime while he is out there. It sounds like Fresno is the nearest airport, but coming from the Chicago area, it seems like an all day event to get there. :o) Better than driving, though!
Thank you for welcoming me to N4M's! I am enjoying all of your posts...
Denise - my thoughts are with you and your family. So impressed that your son would put his training on hold to be with you!
Leslie - continue to recover quickly! Good news always helps!
Nancy - we were in Meridian in May for my son's winging. It is quite a moment!
Enjoy your weekend and CONGRATULATIONS!
Loved the pictures that were posted! Thanks for sharing....
