thank you Suzi- I do need to grab a kleenex. My son, Andrew just returned last thursday from  6 month deployment with carrier air wing 1 aboard the USS Enterprise. Seeing those plane come out of the sky and fly in formation over the hanger and then land one by one was overwhelming for me and I cried like a baby. I was video taping and I just said, "Andrew's home- Andrew's home."

Today is a good day!  It is our 35th wedding anniversary and our son is back stateside.  He is packing up his house to head to his next assignment.  He will be attending one of the War colleges.  He is looking forward to getting his masters and having 10 months of a normal family life (no Naval duty while he is in school).

The downside to all of this is we will not get to see him as he has to report by August 1st.

We did get to talk with him this morning and he sounded good, tired but in good spirits.  He said it felt weird to sleep in a bed with someone else:)  He said it felt a little crowded ( wife, two daughter and one son) all in the bed with him.  No one wanted to sleep in their rooms, dad was home and they all wanted to be with him.  He said he made it until about 1:00 am and then he went down to the couch.

Hope you all have a great day as mine has started out wonderful, we have done nothing but party with friends and family all weekend.  Now I have to go to work oh well got to pay the bills

Leslie,

Thank you for the information. It is wonderful to have you back on the site. You sound good and I hope you are feeling much better. It is great that you will have all or most of your boys together for Brian's winging. What a great time for all of you. Andy has about 4 more flights to go, so he should be finished soon. They really pushed him through and now he will have to cool his heals until September. He has not heard anything about moving the winging date up so we are assuming it will still be as scheduled. Take care and get strong for the big event.

Ladies,

Our son is scheduled to wing in September. We are about to make our reservations. How many days before the winging and after the winging should we plan to be in Corpus to take in all of the associated activities? His winging in on a Friday and we were planning to go down on Thursday and back on Saturday, but we do not want to miss anything. Should we schedule more time? He is training for P-3/P-8. Thank you, all.
