Shelia - that's so nice that they have friends here! I really like Jacksonville - I was very surprised on how green (tree-wise) it is here - kind of funny to see some palm trees mixed in with the evergreens - very similar to Oregon EXCEPT it's warm here :)
We've hit a few good restaurants: Clark's Fish Camp, Cantina Laredo, Yamas Greek Cuisine - good eats!
Shelia - I am in Jacksonville for a few more days - let me know if your son would like to go out for dinner with me :) Also, so glad to hear that your daughter is on the mend - you certainly have been tested that past few months!
My son left last night and it was very cool to be in the squadron hangar and watch the C-17 fly in! I was so glad that I had some extra time with him this past week to help him get ready - I know he appreciated me being here. Just an FYI, if your LO is looking for a good travel bag, we got a High Sierra duffle bag on wheels at Dillards 50% off. Then bought a bunch of space bags and really packed a lot of stuff into it.
Surprisingly, I'm not as emotional as I thought I would be - the only time it hits is when someone says to thank him for his service to our country, then it hits!
They will have a little time in Italy before heading out, so he gets to see something fun!
I am going to down the coast of Florida over the next few days and play tourist and then hook up with Flyboymom & Leslie next week - that should be a hoot. Wish you all could be with us!!
PattyM...Sorry have been tied up this weekend with the funeral of a friend husband. Its been crazy.
I would still love to meet up with you. What are your plans this next week?
