Hey DJ....SD just finished "Strike" at NAS Fallon and will be deployed on 22 April.  It seems quite unreal....SD is really excited to go and their mission is superb, but momma doesn't like it much :*(

DJ...Its better to be honest with your mom.  She can handle it, it may just take her sometime.

Organize what you can! We moved ourselves with his parents help and one super buff cousin we had that Uhaul (a two bedroom town house full of furniture), unpacked and set up in 8 hrs.  The next day 4 hrs of hanging pictures, and curtains, and waiting for Direct TV and internet. So glad our next move we'll be closer to family, but we'll have alot more things so I'll get more help!

Moms- Just an FYI on moving. If you pack items and the movers take them, the movers will note that the item was self-packed. If it is damaged in the move, the movers will not cover that damage. My son has had 9 Navy moves in his almost 14 years. My husband and I are semi-pro unpackers at this point. We just finished our last unpack in Virginia over New Years and they will move again in 8 months for another one year assignment.

Denise F.---and what about clothing? Do they repack suitcases or trunks of clothing into boxes???

Denise F.---my son is going to primary. He is in P'cola now and won't be able to come home to weigh all his stuff. He has an apt full of furniture to move, 2 tvs, stereo, pots-pans-dishes etc. Can the movers pack up big screen tv, breakable dishes  or should I do that for him? Also, did they call you to question about the weight and what there was to move or did someone come to see it first?

My understanding is that the whole squadron goes to one location to replace one coming back and that it doesn't matter what phase of training the pilot is in - my son is a #2 in the P3 and they are all headed to Djibouti when they deploy.

Leslie, it is Nancy W that is going to help bring her new grandbabies back from Africa, but ditto on the sentiment.  I know that she is excited about it.  Hopefully the new additions can be brought back with the rest of the family.  I'm not sure that I would want to travel alone with 3 active little boys.

I was able to put some photos on here from our Tiger Cruise.  I haven't received notice yet that they have been approved.  Our NEW computer (less than 3 months old) crashed last week.  We are having someone work on it this afternoon and hopefully, I'll be able to add some more.  That is if everything isn't lost.  Keep your fingers crossed.

HI Everyone, The Navy is sending a truck to pick up my son's furniture and belongings to ship. This is our first esperience with a Navy move. He, of course, cannot be here, so I have to pack him up. He told me someone will contact me to interview me a few days before the move. Is this interview by phone? Will someone come by and inspect what is being shipped? Can I box things up before the interview? Any advice appreciated!

Leslie - I find it very hard to believe your child couldn't find the corkscrew -  lol :)
