Julie, what squadron is your son in? My kid is an LSO in VFA134. It has been fund seeing him sometimes on the FB page for the Abraham Lincoln. He was an LSO at the time that the band - Gloriana (new country band) was on the ship. Apparently the PAO (public affairs officers) were not getting them across the landing area very fast and they had a plane coming in. They were afraid that they were going to have to wave it off. Fortunately they got them across and the plane trapped, but the small snippet of video I saw of him, he didn't look real happy. Then the Secretary of Defense, Bob Gates was on the ship, which of course slowed things down and they couldn't get done what needed to get done. He did just tell me that he flew support for Easy Company of the Army with the 506th Airborne. One of his all time favorite shows was "Band of Brothers" that was set in WWII with Easy Company of the 101st Airborne. He thought that was pretty cool. I love hearing everyone's stories and that we are all in different stages of schooling and deployment. I will be missing my DS on Christmas but am so proud of him and his accomplishments. Unbelievable week!! Son finished carrier quals last night and was offered today the LSO position- just had to share - bursting with joy for all of the hard work that our aviators do to make their dreams come true!!

Hi everyone,
Just heard from Andrew- 2 more night traps and he is done. Hoping to be back on land tonight. As he quoted, "it's true what they say - you are a changed man (woman) after your first night trap." The tear in my eye is one of thankfulness and continued prayer for our aviators safety. I know that will never go away. I love reading your posts as always.
On a lighter note he had all 4 wisdom teeth out in Kingsville.

DS - Dear Son - N4M speak!!!! Mike was in OCS in Pensacola, (he's been in 5 years) but he had his out before OCS was over. I don't know about NROTC or the Academy.

Leslie, I was so glad that the Navy paid for the 4 teeth extraction during OCS. Apparently you can't get out of OCS with wisdom teeth. Myself, I would rather go the gyno appointment than the dentist.

Awesome news Mamajoey - boy that deployment time sure went fast, but it probably didn't seem like it to you! So great he's going to be home for the holidays!

Way to go Rory - that's such great news, so happy for him! Someday, when we are all (our N4M moms) together, you'll fill us in :)

Patty - my son goes next month, so it will be interesting to hear (if anything) what your daughter has to say - he keeps saying "they won't let you die" - that's a relief isn't it :)

Hi all. Happy Thanksgiving to you and all of your families! Keep my daughter in prayers as she leaves for SERE tomorrow morning. I think she is probably coping better than her mommy :-) Love to all..
