OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Musicmom, you are correct, waiting is not a good idea. We did but are going to be getting those applications in. We've just never been out of the country.... or at least I haven't. My husband did growing up as his Dad was stationed with the AF in Japan for years. I just never thought about it before. But you can bet I am now.

Actually, it is in the Navy Times now. I appreciate the information on passports. I will discuss it with my husband and get that process started.

My husband called to tell me that one of the news stations here just announced where my son's carrier is now. DS can't tell me but the local news can.
