We did the same thing. I didn't land but Mike told me that I did an aileron roll over the deck. His dad landed but ......... "rolled" into the 1st wire. He likes to say that he landed on the deck but Mike thinks that it wasn't quite that good. He seemed more impressed with the aileron roll. I was laughing so hard I think I missed it. I left the cockpit soon after!!!

When our son was wing'd we got to spend a session with our son in the sim. It was quite the expereince. The only one that could land without crashing was his little sister who was 14 at the time. Go figure.

Kathy B - Unfortunately I live in Oregon, so will not be able to attend - but if any of you wonderful moms are near Pittsburgh - please go and give him a hug! And a comment to AH - he said he gets to "stand around and look cool" for a couple of days - so I know he'll love talking to anyone and everyone who comes up to the plane! He's so excited and now he'll be the co-pilot, which is even cooler!

Quick funny story - when he was in college, they flew one of their aircraft (I think it was a Cessna) to Portland to be in a static display and as a nod to the NROTC program he was in during our annual airshow in which the Blues were performing. When they had to leave on Sunday, the Blues had to wait for this small itty bitty aircraft (my son's plane) to take off before they could start their show - we got such a big kick out of that. Nothing like seeing your child fly an airplane!

On that note - here's a great video I received from this year's Oshkosh Airshow - someday, I need to get to that - enjoy and have a great Labor Day weekend!

IsP3Orion Mom, that is such a great experience for them. My son came in with the demo team from Lemoore a couple of years ago and it was sort of like walking around with a rock star. The kids are so awestruck and ask all sort of cute and interesting questions. The amount of handshakes and thank yous for their services is just incredible and gratifying to see. It also blows me away at how mature Mike is now. I love to see the Vets walking around and they all have a story to tell.
