Nancy W-- flyboymom and I know all too well about the screamer!! Although we referred to him as "yeller" which worked quite nicely with his last name. :) The buddy had made mention of one major difference between Meridian and Whidbey and that has been the sim instructors. In Meridian, the instructors all seem to be very vocal, set in their own individual ways and styles of teaching and are extremely tough. At Whidbey, while still extremely tough, they seem to be more uniformed and helpful about pointing out their weak spots so their skills can be improved. He has definately been pleasantly suprised to have no "yellers" as instructors thus far.

JAMI,
Welcome to the CC Primary moms. My son had the same problem moving from a furnished apartment in P-cola to an unfurnished one on the island in CC. He bought a bed and some cooking utensils and that is about it. We hear he will be going to NM next, so as he says, "it doesn't make sense to get much furniture. . . ." Oh well, so much for a comfortable apartment :-(. Welcome! I hope all goes well and your son makes a quick adjustment to CC.

HeyNancyW. my son is at NAS Whidbey. He is in the training command teaching tactics to Growler NFO's and Pilots. We are in NY so when we visit him the area just is breathtaking!I could see myself living there someday!

Nancy W - I may have one coming back to the Northwest - he's thinking his first choice for P3 might be Whidbey (we live just outside of Portland), but I'm trying not to be selfish and encourage him to go somewhere that he may not ever have a chance to live (and have it paid for) - llike Hawaii. We'll see what happens, he should know in the next couple of months!

I don't post too often, but really enjoy following along. Wish this forum was here when my son started out.He is Whidbey now at the training command-he teaches tactics to new Growler NFO's and Pilots. He has a house available to rent in Oak Harbor, 6 min. from the base if anyone is interested. Send me a private message and I can fill you in.He had to get a different house closer to Seattle for his wife's job(Oak Harbor was too far for her to travel each day)

NNM....hope your son and his wife get their living arrangements worked out as well. What an ordeal...one that my son doesn't need right now. On a brighter note, so happy for you and your new job...sounds wonderful and challenging. I'm from Memphis so I know Nashville a bit...great city!!!!

Thanks for the tips Rose......my son is an NFO so he will be staying in Pensacola for primary...his roommates are pilots so they are going to CC for primary. Didn't know there was a delay in the other graduates arriving in P'cola...good to know and will pass that along to my son. Since he's been in API he's been out touch with everything else.

When it comes to my kids, the mad tiger lady appears...I want to go down there and ring some necks but won't...don't want to embarrass my 27 year old navy aviator who is perfectly capable of handling this all on his own...I always think he needs my help when deep down, I know very well, he doesn't......the price he pays at times for being the "baby" in the family. hahaha It will all work out, I'm sure....thanks for letting me vent!!!!! Will keep you all updated and as has been said so many times before...thanks for your support.....it really does help so much just to air out all our worries and concerns.....just want things to go smoothly for our sons and daughters who are working so hard at these incredible careers they have chosen.....more to follow, I'm sure!!!!

And, Leslie...not enough time to find roommates....his roommates are leaving for Corpus in about 2 weeks.......he has a four bedroom house in Perdido Key....hard to find renters for that.......just a bad situation......I'm sure all the Academy guys/gals and ROTC guys/gals are there now and have found places to live....bad timing.....they have to show proof of orders to a new command in order to break the lease....not good...any lawyers out there
?????

Well, we'll see......Jag said he'll be ok and they will be behind him....my son is worried about his credit when he just moves out and puts this place behind him. Jag said they can take care of his credit over "lunch" so to speak. You are right though...if you have orders, then you're ok to break a lease...if you don't have orders...such is the case with my son...then you are obligated to see the lease to the end of the obligation.....unreal.....hope it all ends well but at this point....I'm not at all sure it will......who needs this when these guys/gals are working so hard to do what they do so this landlord can continue to make his mega bucks in the name of freedom.......just maddening!!!!!
