I just read in the news this morning that the sailor from CO attended the same high school as Mike. He would have been a couple of years ahead of Mike. Mike is 28 and the sailor was 30. I didn't recognize the name. I have a friend whose daughter would have been about 1 year ahead of the sailor. I'll check with her. Her husband is a 1st Sgt in the Army.

Well, I heard from Mike, as they got the computers in the ready room up and running on Sat. The ship was a day late leaving, but it gave him an extra day getting his rack ready. "We still need to lay all the carpet down in our room, which will be a pain but worth it." Carpet?? What luxury! It is so nice to hear from him. Never enough, but at least I'm hearing from him. On the Facebook page for the Abraham Lincoln, there have been some interesting things being put on by the Navy. There was a video from the Strike Force Admiral. Today there was a video taken before they left of a female Shooter (the only one on the West Coast Fleet). It is a nice way to "sort of" keep in touch. From what I can get from these little snippets, it sounds like they will deploy right from finishing the manuever in the next weeks, but who knows.

My prayers are with the troops that are missing and for all of the families that have lost loved ones.

good idea about the bedding - that may help - also an air purifier for his place might help too!

Well, Mike should be flying down to San Diego in a few minutes.... lol.... that is if the air-lift leaves when it is supposed to. The Facebook Abe site has them gone for 9 months according to one post. The Penny Press says 18 days getting ready for deployment "later in the year". I guess we'll see.

Oh also, you could blur the name tag in photoshop - I'd be happy to help you do that if you don't have the program. We'd probably need to friend each other and send private messages if you want.

Shelia - all I can say is your daughter shouldn't have a broken heart for long!!! Absolutely gorgeous - maybe now is your chance to lock her up :)!!!

Well, talk about uncertainty. Mike is going down to San Diego on Wednesday on a air-lift and will walk onto the boat there. He wanted to get his stuff on the boat and asked to walk on. They are on workup manuevers for 3 weeks. From there, they may or may not head west. They may come home for 2 weeks, they may come home for 6 weeks and then deploy. So..... the people in Everett and at the various NAS stations for aircraft are treating this as a deployment as they just don't know. The aircraft from Lemoore fly out on Friday. Wish me luck. If they go on deployment right from the manuevers, I'll have about 9 months of not being able to talk with him every week. They are supposed to know before the beginning of August on whether they come home or not.

Teenage GIRL that is.

It's funny how different everyone considers raising boys and girls. I only have the one boy and don't have any experience. I have a friend that had her first child at 19 (girl) her second at 30 (boy) and her 3rd at 40 (boy). All the same father!!! Anyway, # 3 was a surprise and they did all of the testing and found out that #3 was a boy. She was relieved because she didn't think that she could have raised a teenager in her 50's.
