Leslie - great recap of winging - congratulations to Conor and your whole family! So sorry to hear about Brian's classmate, sounds like he has options though. My youngin' just logged 5 hours in the real P3 today - he had a great time, so the adventure begins anew!

I was blown away as usual when I went to see the Blue Angels at Jones Beach-I have seen them many times, but boy oh boy,it never gets old!My son left yesterday for a 10 ten day exercise at Nellis(I think the flying weather at Whidbey hasn't been too good lately)Thank you to all our servicemen and women for all you do and the sacrifices you make

Something very similar happened up near Oceana, VA last year. Again equipment failure. Some of these aircraft are getting pretty old. When my son moved from his old hydraulic fluid leaking 46 to his shinny "new" 60 I was quite concerned about the amount of time the new bird was in the shop having stress fracture welds done. Seems the airframe keeps cracking...

Wow - Anyone see the news article about the P-3 out of JAX dropping a sonar buoy on a house in Mandarin, FL near the base. Nobody was hurt, thank goodness.

Oh boy...have GREAT memories of the Blues flying in Annapolis! My oldest daughter was in 5th grade and was on crutches...had cut her foot open and needed over 100 stitches to close it up. All the gates were closed to civilians and yet they took pity on us and let us drive her in. (It was raining too) They let us park at show center right by the Academy fireman...they let her sit on the truck and watch the show. Brought her all kinds of food and drinks...really spoiled her...best show EVER!

Leslie - good to hear all the news - I think the idea of a U-haul is ingenious - sounds like they had fun and with "slaves" & pillows, they probably had a night to remember!!

Bummer about the boys not being able go to the winging, but like you said, it will be fun to dote on Conor and really take in the whole experience! - can't wait to hear all about it! Enjoy and have a safe trip, we'll all be here thinking about you and the family.

Woo hoo, we are now the proud owners of a Lt. JG!! Effective today, will be sworn in again this Friday - I think he's already spent the raise :)

Leslie...that is what my son has been doing. He loves it! IFS should be starting in June. Best of luck to your son during API.

Glad Billy is back safe and sound! SERE really seems to be something that they will never share much about it with anyone other than the others who have shared the experience. I think it's great they have this once in a lifetime experience that only a few know about!!

My son is working at the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola while waiting for IFS...he told me yesterday that he is reminded daily that he doesn't really "work" for a living...he loves his job too much!
