Does Sean tell you via email? Mike is a horrible correspondent! I told him that he needed to be diligent. I guess we'll see. How did you get through the months of deployment when you knew that he was flying on and off the carrier daily? I have to tell you, that is what worries me the most. I'm always on pins and needles when he is out there and the longest he's been is a week! I can't imagine 8 months of that. My husband and co-workers would probably be ready to throw me under a bus!!!

Good luck to all our guys on the boats. Tony is getting to go on the newest, Mike the oldest. Even after a bunch of work over the last 2 years, I guess the Lincoln is still not even close to the others in the fleet. I figure Mike is going to lose a bunch of weight as he says the food is really bad. He's been out 1 other time and didn't have anything good to say about it.

On another note, while surfing the web about a week ago, I came across a petition to have the next carrier CVN79 named the Enterprise rather that the Barry Goldwater. Here is a link where you can sign the petition. There has been a USS Enterprise in the United States Navy since the 1700's. There have been 8 ships to bear the name Enterprise and the final one is being de-commissioned or already has been, we need another Enterprise. Also - Barry Goldwater was an AF Reserve General. Do we want a Navy ship named after someone from the AF? Please sign the petition and forward the link to as many people as you can.

Cyndi - no but in my post, Mike is going out to the boat for a month today. Which boat is he going onto? Mike is going out to the Lincoln. When Mike got back from his F-18 quals last year, he went into his Squadron. No more down time..... they are really, really busy with day to day work. I told him the vacation was over!!!!! I seriously had no idea how "over" it was. They work long hours and fit flying in between. Good luck to Tony and all of our aviators.

Well, Mike flies out today to the boat for a month. 4 leave today and 6 tomorrow. It is going to be hard not being able to talk with him when I want. This will be the longest that I will go without speaking with him since he was in OCS. At least this time, we will have email. I told him he needs to be really good and about responding and letting his Dad and I know how things are going. I guess it will be good practice for when the boat goes on deployment in the summer.

I'm glad he got to solo in IFS. That is such a milestone and shows how well that he did after only a short time. Natural pilot it would seem. When Mike got to the RAG, he went up for the first time in a F18F on Monday and soloed on Thursday. Talk about moving fast. He had a blast!
