My son had a nice apartment on the island called the Beach Club(lived alone) and also rented a condo fully furnished with 2 other pilots on the island(on the water) Beautiful!! Had his winging party there. Not a bad commute at all to the base. Good luck to him. Actually this pic is taken on his 2 story patio.

Our kids stayed at an apartment on Ennis Joslin street. Close to the beach and an easy commute to base.

Kathy B.... take a deep breath and know that there are people that are looking out for her the whole time. That being said...... my son said that he didn't ever want to do it again. He lost 10 pounds and was exhausted, but felt good about finishing. Just another step in the process. Good luck to everyone.

Mom's.....Don't you know that its bad ju ju to talk about crashes, pilots are just as superstitious as cops about certain things:)

I finally spoke to my son last night and Lt. Wermers was one of the first people he met when he was at primary and one of his favorite instructors. Lt. Wermers always had something funny to say to everyone and was a favorite of everyone down there. If anyone hears about any sort of fund being set up for his young family, please let us know. What concerns me now is that this is the second T34 crash in a very short time and hopefully, the planes will be given a good once over and figure out any issues that are present!

During Mike's advance jets, there were 3 ejections. 2 within 5 days. The first one was a student flying solo. He winged with his class. IsP3Orion, you are right this is what they have dreamed about doing forever. I couldn't think of him doing anything different. It is better when I don't know exactly what he is doing on a day to day basis, except flying. I will probably be a mess when he actually deploys. The are starting workups and going out to the boat several times before then. I think that once he is actually out there and it is day to day and he gets more experienced, that I may calm down some.

My son was on a cross-country on Sunday and this absolutely is such a heart stopper to hear news like this. He's currently in Corpus, and he texted us once he was home. Mamajoey is so correct in saying what they do is inherently dangerous, but it's also what they have dreamed about doing forever and wouldn't want to be doing anything else! Still hard for the all family members.
