My son rented house in Escambia while he was in Helo school at Whiting Field. I think they found it through the website http://www.fsbomilitaryhousing.com. I know they were renting from a Naval Officer who was transferred to San Diego. Pretty sure that is how they rented out their house in Chespeake, VA. They are renting it to a JAG Officer who was transferred in to Norfolk. Right now they are renting from a Captain who was recently transferred out of JAX. It's like musical chairs... when the music stops...

All.....As I annouced earlier our son is returning from Afghanistan in a few days.

As all things Navy our best laid plans have gone out the window and now have a new time line of classes and report date to his new ship.

Has anyone had to ship a vehicle cross country? I would appreciate any information or suggestions you may have!

I would suggest we posted it here on this site, because this information may be helpfully to others in the future.

Mom in waiting,

My daughter is just waiting for her API class to start. First they said July 3rd, and now it's July 31st. Her big sister just went out to P'Cola to see her yesterday, and I think she is going to try to get OHARP (officer recruiting) duty since she won't start API until the end of July. Can't wait to see her again! She did finish her private pilot's license with the flight school she was at (figured she might as well since she had so many hours), so she was excited. BTW, I'm Patty and my daughter is Tracy!

Tracy lives in a great condo on Perdido Key, about 15 minutes from the back gate of NAS, and it's gorgeous! Geez, I'd like to move there, too!

God Bless all of your kids, keep them safe, and all of our troops out of harm's way.

Hi, Fran & Jody!
I'm down here in Canoga Park at the western end of the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles. Would fly up to meet your group but I'm embarrassed to say that I really don't like flying. I love to watch planes & all but from a safe spot on the ground ~ they really are thrilling. Obviously my son didn't inherit those genes ~ LOL!

Thank you, N4Ms, for such a warm welcome. I'm so glad I found you. I used to belong to a group called NavyMoms but think that it has now disbanded. They were a great help to me in Davin's early years. He enlisted in 1997 & came to be a Naval Aviator in a round-about way, first having completed Nuclear Power School but deciding on a career as an officer. It's been quite a journey & very interesting for our whole family. Currently he's a Lieutenant flying F/A-18s with the "Bulls" squadron for the USS Harry S. Truman based out of Oceana, Virginia. The Navy has been so good for my son, & we are extremely proud. Just wish he & his family were close to us here in California.
