Please note:  In 2012, Linda, this group's creator, did a heroic effort and created a cookbook of our recipes that was sold to members as a fund raiser for Molly's Adopt a Sailor Project.  That cookbook is no longer available.   If anyone would like to volunteer to start another cookbook-publishing project, that would be great!

Welcome to the new ladies!

scrappingmomma, I don't know much about the cookbooks other than what has already been posted. As far as the adopt a sailor, a couple comments below, Marcy typed a link for Molly's Adopt a Sailor. Click on the Molly link and it will take you to the MAS group. You can join and see what kinds of wonderful things are going on there!

Hi Marysuemcc and welcome to the Navy family!  It's been awhile but yes, I know what you mean :)   I'm a single mom of one son - he graduated bootcamp in October as well and was in school right through the holidays.  Don't worry, we're all here for you!!  Here's a great N4M group to have fun with and I truly hope you'll come join in - Molly's Adopt a Sailor - it's very active, adopting a ship or unit each month and sending care packages.  A great cause, and good practice for sending to your own sailor when he's at his first duty station.  Hope to see you there, be sure to introduce yourself :)

Also speaking of BC graduation, go to these groups for sure - Groups listed by PIR date and PIR Reference Information

Hi there, as I said before I too are more than happy to put something together I just never heard from other than 3 people.  Why don't we just list ours to start and see where it goes, meanwhile I can grab them. I did get a message about Linda having a program I found one too. I can investigate the program but meanwhile lets just start to post them you can attach a file here so if you have it in your computer as a file and it is in a format people can grab - then go for it.  I will check back and leave a recipe later tonight.  Thanks for your  interest and I may be calling on you for help.

Linda sent out an email and has a lot on her metaphorical plate at the moment, so no cookbooks are forthcoming right now.  I have a thought - we just go ahead and share our recipes right here!  There's no reason why we can't have fun posting our favorite holiday recipe here in the comments; I know I'd love to see what we all cook up :)

I'll be happy to capture them and put together in one pdf for downloading once we get rolling, so we can each download and print out for putting in a binder - what do you think?

Here's an appetizer I like to make - it's one of my go-to's LOL - easy to make and serve, bite-sized, and really colorful and pretty on a serving plate.  And they taste so good!

Pecan Apricot Canapé

1 16 oz package dried apricots

40 pecan halves

1 8-oz package cream cheese

2 tablespoons green onion, finely minced

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp garlic salt

1/4 cup parsley, finely minced

Toast the pecan halves in a skillet over low heat for 10 minutes while turning often.  Cool and sprinkle with salt.

Blend the cream cheese, garlic salt, and green onions in a bowl.

Spread the cream cheese mixture on apricot half and press a pecan half on each.

Roll edges in the minced parsley.

Good afternoon cooking moms, I have only heard from those posted below and no recipes. Maybe just to close to the holidays?  Maybe we can work on this after the holidays for next year when we will not be so rushed.  I am happy to work on it.  Our son is looking to make the Navy a career so I will be here.

How many books are left from the past 2 books?  With HC coming up for the Enterprise and people being at the pier early I do not know if it is possible to sell them during the early part of the day. I have never been to a HC this will be our first. Or whether they can be sold at the night before party when we get our passes.  Just a thought but do not know how many we would be looking at to ship to Norfolk VA.  If someone can tell me then I can see if something can be worked out or if nothing else to see about selling some to the mom's of the Enterprise
