Hi Denise,

My son is on a Destroyer also & works sonar & also the .50 caliber guns.  I've been lucky to e-mail him alot & hear from him...called this past week.  I do my best to keep busy & know that he is loving most everything right now.  I'm so proud of him.

My son went to boot camp 4/12, and called me that night to let me know he was there.  He said he would call again in 2 weeks.  That would be tomorrow, I can't wait.  My son's ship is 04 Division 812.  Anyone else with the same Ship and Division?  I'm a hospice RN in Florida.

My son left today on deployment.  I'm feeling alot of emotions...pride, love, sadness, anxiety.  I know he will be fine...just a born worrier-mom.

Hi, I am an Operating Room nurse and my daughter is now three weeks into boot camp.  Didn't realize how much I would miss her and worry about her!

Welcome to the group Rowena and DarkRider.Tell your kids that they made a good choice with the Branch of Service they chose. The Navy will be very good to them.Rowena we all know just how you feel. But,I think the bond with a mother/daughter is about the strongest there is and I know how much you must miss her.The day you see her graduate, you will be so proud!Look forward to that, bring a camera and lot's of tissues!I'm an RN looking forward to retirement from Dept. of Corrections.I think because of the group we are we can be extra caring and compassionate and are always here for you. It's a good way to vent and fill the gaps.Take care and keep in touch.

Thanks, Cindy, for the idea to get a care package together.  I know it takes awhile for them to get to the ship--so it gives me something positive to do.  Your understanding of my situation means everything to me.  This is truly a great site to share with people going through the same experiences.  I will probably be a "frequent flyer" on here for awhile!
