Your correct tks4, PIR stands for Pass In Review. I have no idea what the term is that they use for graduation from A school. Great question!

my son is supposed to ge getting a two week leave before he is stationed to USS KEARSARGE in Norfolk, Va. He graduates from A-School on August 5th from Pensacola. I feel so guilty about moving my daughter into his room.  Haven't done it yet, but plan to have him pack up his things while he is on leave. Feel guilty about that too. I think he is ok with it :)

I am so with you all in regards to our children not living at home anymore. It has been really hard for me to grasp all of this. Diego just graduated high school last June, he and Kelsey. She then went away to college, though coming home on the weekends and she pretty much lived with us by then. We loved having her with us, it was always hard to let her go back to college every Sunday afternoon. Then, D leaves for bootcamp and it was so different. We missed him so much. Kelsey would still come home for the weekends, we were be in tears on Sunday. Then a letter came to us in mid October and D told us that he loved Kelsey and they wanted to get married while he was home for Christmas break. We thought they were going to wait a while, they were talking about it. So, Kelsey left school so we could plan properly and she get things in order to move with him after the break. It has all worked out beautifully, we miss them so much. We realize they may never "live" at home again, but we will always look forward to the wonderful visits! They just grew way too fast, Kevin and I talk about all the things we did when they were "little." We traveled quite a bit so they have been to many places even, Paris, France. Kevin had to work there for three months and we got to go over for a week. It was special! So, Diego and Kelsey took what they wanted and left so much still here! We recently moved and had to move so much of his stuff, but we will hold it for him until they are settled one day. Then......they get it all!!!! lol

bn4givn, my son said the same thing when he PIR'd.  We waited until he came home to let him go though it.  He still said throw everything away.  We went through it again and got rid of a few things.  We let him come home 3 times before we through everything away or donated it.  He was amazed that we didn't get rid of it the first time.  He did end up taking a few things with him.  We still have his old trophies, a jacket and some books/cds.  Some things you just can't get rid of!!!

He may live back home again some day, but for now he doesn't see that.  But no one knows the future, so things may change some day.  We are to raise our children up to become responsible adults who can live their own lives.  It is just hard to realize that that time comes sooner than we think.

(((HUGS)))

bn4givn, I told you this on the hawaii site but put them in a tote and store them away for when he does come home. That is what I did with my sons. That way if he doesn't want them he can get rid of them instead of you. It will make you feel better knowing they are stored instead of giving or throwing them away. How's that sound? I know how you feel though.

Kind of sad...my son told me today to just trash or donate whatever clothes he has left here....seems so final that he's never going to live back home again! :(
