Hello to our teachers! Some of you may know of our adopt a sailor program that we host each month adopting sailors in various rates and countries. For the holiday season we would love to get some help from your classrooms.

We are going to adopt our first US Navy ship, the USS Rodney M. Davis has about 250 sailors that will be deployed for the holidays and we would love to show them our holiday spirit and load them up with cards, letters, drawings, etc. showing our support and holiday wishes.

If you would like to know more, please stop by Molly's Adopt A Sailor group for details or shoot us a message. Thank you.

Well, we have been out of school for the past 2 and a half weeks because of Hurricane Ike. I guess that is why I am not so talkative - I am out of practice!!

Hi Stephanie:
When our son joined the Navy we were taken by suprise. He had graduated from college and had moved to Cinci. and had a good job in an insurance company, but did not like sitting at a computer all day. I think it was something he gave alot of thought to and had some good reasons for joining. It just wasn't the path we thought he would take. Now he is at Goose Creek in Nuclear school. He was in boot camp Nov.-Jan. We saw him last month. He looks good and knows that like anything there are things he likes and things he doesn't. He is a little older than the other guys. Hope things work out for your son and the others who are on this web site. Hope the experience is the best that it can be for all.
This year I am a tutor in Columbus City schools. I taught preschool for many years, was a sub in Columbus City and a suburban school system, so I have seen lots and lots of different classes, schools and kids. As a sub, some days are good and some were not so good, but I learned which schools to avoid. I like being a tutor - I work with K-3 kids in literacy and only work with small groups of kids - pulling them out of class. I don't have to test (which is absolutely crazy - they start testing in 2 weeks). I don't have all the extra stuff to do and can just work with and enjoy the kids. So it is good! I found this site earlier this week and it's just nice to have a connection with families who are going through this too as I don't really know anyone else whose kids are in the military. So everyone, have a good weekend. Debbie
