I'm a LPN and DON of a 6 site FQHC (community healthcare center) my son has not been gone a week yet and I miss him SO much!! I am so proud of him but am ready for a hug! I have a 15 year old son as well and both my boys are loving however I have accused them of stopping chores to find me for a hug just so they could just be a lil lazy! But I do miss the hugs

This past week was Friday #4 of 9 and this mama is feeling much better about things!  We've had 2 phone calls from our SR and he's doing great and even loves boot camp!  Crazy kid!  He had his wisdom teeth out and wrote back that it wasn't a big deal and all is well.  The nurse in me so much wanted to take care of him after having his teeth out but I was so relieved to read in his letter that things went so well.  You all are right, it does get easier!  4 more Fridays until PIR!

So glad to know other moms/nurses tear up in those situations!  I'm not a crier, however, I'm finding myself choking up when people ask me about my son. However, they are tears of complete pride!

So today I was seeing a regular pt who we have had for some time. He causally ask me about my boys as he always does. He says " So the boys ready to be out of school" I start to answer in the usually way that I answer in regard to my boys, " well, my oldest" then I caught myself and started crying. My poor patient just sat holding my hand. Bless him. I so have never done anything that unprofessional, but I just couldn't stop it.

chrissyrrt: your story is very similar to mine. I do peds but home health. Been a nurse for 24 years. My son will be graduating bc on 7/19/13. He is going to be a MA as well. Would love to hear how your son did in a school and if he has any advise to give. Your son in the USAF what is his job. My dad was in for 23 year I grew up AF. He was a firefighter.

I am a pediatric nurse in a large NYC hospital, I have been a nurse for 10 years and I was a Respiratory Therapist before that, working in the same hospital for the last 17 years. My son is currently finishing up his A school in San Antonio for Master at Arms. Our other son is in the Air Force just a few weeks ahead of his brother. Getting used to them both being gone and worrying has been difficult but we are so very proud.

Welcome, ProudN4M=Jason!  I'm Linda an RN on a Medical floor at a hospital in Milwaukee. My son is a Seabee in Gulfport, MS, soon to go out on his second deployment. There is a Wisconsin Navy mom group on here as well, as well as on facebook.
