My wonderful husband left just last night.  He is down town right now at MEPS waiting to be taken to the airport and then he's off to basics.

I knew there would be tears and it would be hard... I didn't know it was going to be this hard.

I pulled it together for the kiddos and surprisingly my 7 year old daughter is doing great... and my 18 month old son really has no clue as to what is going on.

I on the other hand... I'm a wreck. I think because I held it all in as best I could yesterday in front of the kids that today, while my kids aren't with me, my tear ducts are overflowing.  I made my way into work this morning and I keep tearing up so I can hardly see the computer screen to get any work done.

Will I ever stop crying?

I got his phone call at 1:45 this morning... short and brief... just like expected. In some ways it's a relief to know he's there and that this journey has officially begun.

I can't wait for his box of stuff... his first call... his first letter... getting his PIR date... all of the things everyone tells you about. I'm excited for our future...

But I never thought I'd miss this man sooooo much... and to think, just last week, he was getting on my nerves because he left his dirty socks in the bathroom, he annoyed me because he had forgotten to schedule a vet appointment for our dog, he upset me when he left the TV on to watch a football game while we were eating dinner... now, only in day 2, I wish his socks were there on the bathroom floor, I wish I could look over an see him on the sofa watching a football game... but I'm still mad about the vet thing because they can't see our dog now until next week.... hahaha :)

Basically... it's true absence does make the heart grow fonder.
You learn to appeciate the little things.
Abby,

My husband just left for boot camp as well. I got the phone from him that he arrived last night at around 9:45pm (actually our times our different so it would have been 8:45pm his time). I know exactly how you feel. I didn't think it would be that hard until the actual moment came that he left for MEPS. We have a five year old daughter and I am due to have our second child next week ( a boy), so I know how hard it is being all alone with children.

If you need anything or need to talk please let me know. I am always willing to listen because I know I will need someone as well.

Take care,

MeganMcK
Hey Megan,

How are you doing today? I've still been emotional off and on today... I couldn't imagine being pregnant right now, I bet the hormones intesify every emotion! I feel for you... cuz I know exactly how you feel.

I only wish I knew what he was doing and how things were going... the not knowing really sucks (for lack of better words)! I just wish someone could tell me something!

That's pretty cool that our husbands our in basic together right now. Let's definitely keep in touch... I bet we'll be going through the same things at the same time for at least the next 8 weeks!

Abby
Abby,

I am doing okay today, thanks. I definately miss him a lot, but I think I really have come to terms with this is the way it is going to be for the next 8 weeks and that is that! He wouldn't want me worrying every second of the day. He would want me to be spending it with our daughter and making sure she is happy, so that is really what I am focusing on now.

I feel the same way about not know what he is doing. We have been together for 6 1/2 years, and I am use to knowing what he doing at all times. I agree with you 100% that is sucks not knowing!

Absolutley we will keep in touch! Maybe we will be able to keep each other informed and share information.

Take care and if you need anything or need to talk, just message me and let it out! Talking definately helps out and I think keeps you sane!

Megan
When I went out side to check the mail yesterday "THE BOX" was sitting there on my front patio! I was shocked to see it there so soon. I sat down on patio and stared at the box for a moment... my kids were inside and I didn't want them to see me get super emotional. I wasn't going to open it until they were in bed but my in-laws stopped by and convinced me to open it to see what was inside. Of course inside was his clothes, his shoes and some paperwork... but to my surprise I found a little note from him in his pocket! Thank God my in-laws were there because it kept me from breaking down in to tears!

It was great to get his stuff especially the note he wrote me... his little gesture of love has made me even more fond of him and now I miss him even more!
It was a generic form letter giving you very good information about you SR and what to do....He did though right @ the end of the last page which was cool...If your SR left Tues then you should get it by Monday, I'm not sure who sends it but it was his handwriting on the outside of the envelope....
Lilly... thanks for the info! OMG I'm so excited for Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday of next week... or whatever day the letter comes in... I can't wait to get the information!

So how are you doing? Are things getting better/easier for you?

Abby
I got his form letter last night! PIR date is 10/15/10.... I was so excited to get 3 little sentences! It made my day... and my week! Can't wait to send all the letters the kids and I have for him!!!
