Thank you Navy Wife! I do have one question. Do you know when and how I go about getting my ID?

I stay home with my kiddos too...we are going to be homeschooling. My husband has only been in bootcamp for a little over a week so I really can't say much about "navy life" yet since I really don't have much experience with it. What I can tell you is that the first week was rough! We have been married almost 9 years and have never been apart. So not being able to even talk to him has been hard. But I can't stress enough, you have to stay positive =) we are staying busy! It gets easier every day and take it one day at a time. My mother in law loved the navy life and encourages me all the time. She said she loved moving around and meeting new people. My husband grew up in the navy and he said he loved it as a child as well. Of course there will be challenges and it will be hard but I see life as an adventure, why not make it more interesting =)

Danielle, my husband is going to be a corpsman (like a medical assistant). His dad is retired from the navy as a corpsman as well. I am a Christian and strongly believe that God will help us through the hard stuff and in this life is about Him...so my main focus is on Him =) I know that the navy life isn't for everyone but again, it's what you make of it. I'm trying to keep a good attitude and if someone starts giving me all negative comments about our decision I just ignore it and tell myself that I'm going to choose to stay positive. Sit down with your hubby and weigh the pros and cons. It's really what works best for your family and only you two know what that is!

Danielle, my husband is in basic right now. We have three kids (4 yr old daughter, 1 yr old twin boys). We went back and forth on our decision but after weighing the pros and cons we came to the conclusion that joining the navy is what's best for our family. My husband could not find a decent job and got to the point of having to get on government assistance. Not that there is anything wrong with that but we didn't want to have to take advantage of it. I miss him terribly right now but it will be worth it! The first week was the hardest but now we are adjusting and learning to make the best of our situation. The best advice I can give you is to stay away from negavitive post! I have learned that there will always be negative experiences in anything you read about but also positive. Stick with the positive and keep a positive attitude! Make the best of it and if your husband decides to do this, encourage him and stand by him =) Good luck and I hope the best for you guys!

Danielle (Michael's Wife): I have 2 kids, 4 months and 22 months. My husband just graduated bootcamp about 2 weeks ago. So I have a little experience so far and did have both children when we joined. They are much younger but my eldest was also used to Mommy always being with her and Daddy working very long hours. She learned how to write while he was in bootcamp...always asking me if she could write more to Daddy! They both aren't really old enough to understand what is going on. We visited him for a few days for his liberty after graduation and she warmed up to him right away and everyone was back to normal when we were united. We had to go back home and are now waiting to move up with him. I just talk to them everyday about Daddy and where he is and what he's doing and how he's working so hard for us and we'll be with him again soon. We're proud of him and pray for him every night. We all can't wait to be together again but this is one of the sacrifices that comes with this life.

Hi there,

My husband is leaving for OCS (class date of July 8th).  I there anyone else on here with a son/daughter/significant other that is in that class?  If so, it would be great to get in touch!

Thanks

Hi  MonicaA! My husband left for bootcamp May 16th as well and same graduation date as yours, July 13. What ship & division is he in? Hope you already got a letter. It would make you feel a whole lot better! You're right! Just keep on looking at the up side and make the most of the time alone. Stay positive!
