Hello! My husband is currently in CREST training in N Carolina. We have been married for 7 years- I can't wait to live with him again! He went through boot camp last December and has been gone ever since. Miss him like crazy!
My husband left last week for boot camp, and I'm hating it! How long does it take to get mail? I've already written him a letter...
thanks for your suggestion @meagan! they sent me an email that had a lot of good information in it. they suggested recording a video of all of the electronics in use to show that they were in working order before the move and to take lots of pictures. so i am going to do that!
I would say call the PPO about it. just ask them what the policy is. sometimes they will not cover the newer tvs unless you have them in the original boxes. if you look at a partial dity there is a possiblity you could rent a mini trailer and put his stuff in there and tow it. and get reimbursed. Best bet would be to call and talk to them about your situation :)
Thanks. I wish i could fit all of my husbands guitar stuff in our car. Before he joined the military he was in a band. Its not just 1 guitar, its 3, a huge amp, and a huge petal board. I have a small car that wont allow me to fit it in there, even if i could id never be able to carry it down 3 flights of stairs by myself, the amp weighs over 800 pounds! my husband will not be able to be here during our move. he is in school and he will have to report to his next duty station before our lease ends here.. so i am stuck doing this alone. i am just going to have to trust that they will safely pack everything and that it makes it, i just know that my husband will be very upset if anything is damaged, but it is out of my control and there is nothing i can do about it at this point. the moving company that our PPO referred us to does not cover electronics. i am still unsure if you can file a claim with the military if anything is damaged. i'm just going to cross my fingers and hope everything is handled good. i can't stress myself with the WHAT IFS anymore!
Hey everyone. My husbnad went and talked to the career counselor yesterday on the ship and chose his 3 rates. (He's Undesignated.)
He wasn't too thrilled with his selection as it was very limited for him as of now, (Due to a pre-enlistment circumstance). The only things he was remotely ok with choosing from the rather small list was LS, & GM. (Logistics Support & Gunner's Mate). There were tons of things he wanted to do/try but these aren't one of them. lol
Does anyone know anything about these rates? I googled them but couldn't quite understand what it is they actually do with it every day. lol Does anyone have a sailor in these career paths? Any info would be most helpful. TIA.
God Bless!
You will probably want to take your liquids and your guitar possibly. Idk for sure how they would go about covering it but The best thing to do is to make sure they properly record the condition of all of your HHG. You need to have clothes, and possibly a few household items, I would say cleaning items as well. has your move already been set up? if not you might look at doing a partial dity move. then you can weigh your car empty then weigh it full and they will reimburse you for that. move.mil will have answers about what will and wont be covered during a move.
You need to have all important papers with you and dont leave them in the car on the trip. Keep them with you at all times, Birth certificate, POA, drivers license his orders, medical records, his contract, any important info for bills, checks in case you can go cash them at banks, diplomas and other educational degrees, will if you have one, marriage certificate, insurance information, Credit card information, anything thats important to you personally that may not be for other people (like if there was an emergency you would need that information)
hope that helps a little.
my husband left for BC May 16 at 155PM from San Diego. I got the i'm here call around 938PM last night. oh! i wish i can just sleep and wake up 3 weeks later! :|
I am doing my first move via military (HHG). i really could use any tips and advice you have to offer me. i am doing this all alone and i am stressed out. i am a hairstylist and i have read that they will not move any liquids so this means i will be responsible for moving all of my supplies myself. is there anything else you would advise me to move personally? paperwork..photographs? do they cover broken electronics? my husband has thousands of dollars worth of gutair equipment and i am so worried they will damage it and not cover it. i am going to take his guitars with me because they hold sentimental value... but i am running out of space in my car! what am i to do!?
LoL no worries I will mssg you!!
