My husband is in boot camp, PIR 06/22, missing him. I feel silly for saying that after reading about wives dealing with 2 year deployments, but I just am feeling sad today, and this is the place to come!

My husband is currently stationed in Bahrain for 2 years unaccompanied, with one year left. We didn't get married until after he had already gotten orders. He is up to pick new orders starting in August. He has to do 2 more years of sea duty, and I'm just stressed out that he will be sent somewhere else that I won't be able to join him because of his rank. Has anyone else experienced something similar to this?

Sammy: I'm from Jacksonville originally and met my husband while he was at Mayport. We lived at The Retreat at St. Johns on Kernan. It was close to base, the St. Johns Town Center, and the beaches. Check out the Florida Times Union for rental homes if that's what you want. Try to live off of Kernan and Atlantic. That's the nice part of town that's safe. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck!

@HeySilly Symmie-my hubby graduates on 6/22 as well and I know EXACTLY how you're feeling. We don't have a kid but he is definitely my best (and sometimes only) friend it feels like. You can message me on here or add me on FB (last name is Lebel) if you need to talk. So far I have only talked with one other girl who has a SR with the same PIR date and same feelings. Keep your head up!

Hi Symantha, you are not alone. My husband arrived at great lakes about a week ago. We have a 18 month old little boy. I was telling a friend of mine about my emotions. For a while I would be just fine and then out of nowhere I would get sad and then really mad. My friend lashed back and said "You can't be mad at him! You're not a child. You know what you signed up for." apperantly she didn't understand. I'm not mad at him. I'm just upset at the situation. Yes, we knew what we signed up for. However, it doesn't mean that I can't be mad that I cannot contact my best friend for a while. I believe it's a natural reaction to this huge change in our lives and will take alot of adjusting. It's okay to be emotional. The trick is learning to let yourself have "Bad days" or "moments" so that the emotions can come out and then we have to breathe and move on to enjoy other days (I am learning how to do this myself). If you need to talk, let me know :) Try not to be too hard on yourself. Also, my dad was in the Navy when I was younger. Although the lifestyle will feel familiar, it's different for us as wives and mothers. Now it's our turn to figure out how to be the strong person who holds the family together at home.
