Kimmery-just depends on how quickly they get the paperwork processed. Most say that they don't see it catch up until boot camp is about over (thus why some think that you don't get BAH while in BC)
Skyla - my best advice: Keep busy! Take a new hobby if you have to. Hang out with friends and family as much as possible. If you're just sitting at home and feeling lonely though, you can always hop on here and hit the chat room. It's not all "Navy this, Navy that" talk. It is from time to time, but mostly just casual conversations, laughs, support. And there's usually at least one person in there who can answer a quick question or two.
Once you get the form letter (gives you his ship address and grad date), search the PIR date and join that group. It's great because they're in the exact same boat you are and it's fun to swap stories of what your SR wrote in the letter that week and such. :) Nothing but great support here! Also, since you know his rate, you can search for that group too. They'd be the ones to answer more specific questions you may have about his job and a-school.
Hubs and I have moved several times, but mostly just here in the midwest. So the move to CT for his A-school will be different. But we're looking forward to it.
Look at it as an adventure! ;D And you won't really be alone if you live in "base housing" (ppv-you'll learn all sorts of acronyms too) as it'll be all military families.
Hey ladies! For those of you who are somewhat new to the site and have a husband that just left for BC...as long as you have the PIR date, you can look up the PIR group! Join it! You'll notice in the discussion list that they're labeled by ship/div for other loved ones who have SRs in the same ship/div. If you don't see it there (don't forget to click "view all" as it may not be visable at the moment), start a new discussion! You may be the first to get your SRs info! Some families don't get the info until almost week 3!!! (these are usually divisions that were filled just before they cutoff for the next PIR date).
This website is awesome for info and just having someone to talk to. Take advantage of the chat room, and check into your PIR group page frequently. :)
Much love and luck to you and your sailors!
My husband leaves next Tuesday for basic training! Very nervous & not looking forward to being alone, but still proud of him! I was wondering if anyone had any tips or advice on what to expect for the next couple of months. His rate is CS and the A school should be around 7 weeks long. Neither of us have ever lived outside of our hometown in Oklahoma so this will also be our first official move. Yikes!
Thanks :)

Hey ladies! I'm also new to this site. My husband left April 3rd. I just got his first letter the other day! It was so nice to hear from him. Emotional but nice. He graduates June 1st, and I'm so excited to see him. He is a Nuke so after bootcamp we will be moving to Charleston, SC. Since he will be there close to 2 years I get to move with him for school!
Hello All, My Husband just had his PIR (3/30/12) (12/100) and it was wonderful to see him for about 6 hours (wish he could've spent more time with me as we have been married less than a year)...He's now in San Antonio, TX for his HM School. He's a Reservist, 37 and will be away for at least 5 or so more months. I wish I had found this website before he shipped out for Boot. But I will take the support now! I look forward to learning from all here!
I am not exactly new but it has been two years. My husband (then fiance) was separated in boot camp in 2010 because of a fracture in one of his vertebra. Things have not really improved for us and he wants to re-enlist. We are talking to the recruiter again on Monday. I was just wondering if anyone had been through something similar and if you had any advice for me or my husband. I was also wondering how the re-enlisting process works.
Hello ladies :0) I am a new Navy wife. My husband arrived at BC on March 14th. I have a 1 year old daughter, and miss my husband something terrible. I enjoy learning, asking questions, and chatting with anyone who has a loved one in the Navy. My husband is going to be a Sonar Technician. Very proud of him <3 If anyone wants to chat feel free to message me!

Hi everyone! Just got the site from hubby's recruiter. Hubby leaves for Boot Camp on 4/9. He will be a Seabee and will a Construction Electrician. He majored in Electrical Engineering in college and plans to put to good to use. He will be leaving behind a wife and daughter while he is away. So looking forward to meeting you all.
