3LAMMS is was probably in between two and three weeks that I received the paperwork for my ID. It was even before I got his first letter.

To: NavyWife10 I live in VA, we just moved couple of months ago. Right now  housing wait is anywhere from 2-4 months. And as meagan5220 said to rent here you are going to need a POA, but not just any POA it needs to be specific for the rent or purshase of a house in the state of VA, dont ask me why? Cause I reaally dont get it, but that is what they ask for in this part. We live in Holly Point, Chesapeake and I love it here. We pay a lil more than othe places on Norfolk, but is a very VERY safe neigborhood. Every unit have monitored alarm system included in the rent  price, which I have to admit it makes me feel safe specially when hubby is gone. If you have any other questions fell free to contact me.

Question for all you Ladies,

My husband left for boot camp this past tuesday. I am wondering when I will get the forms to head to the reserve center to get my military id?

Do any of you have an idea?

Thanks

Navywife10 I am also moving out to VA in about 3 weeks. My best advice is if you can go out and look before you decide! it seemed like it was a hard area to navigate. Make sure you have a general POA for an housing application, also I needed a copy of a govt ID, I would say do the Drivers Lic. DO NOT COPY his mil ID thats illegal! The only person that should ever ask for a copy of a mil ID is for docs office for insurance. and to get base housing you will need a special POA. But I would say look at ahrn.com, militarybyowner.com, reatlor.com, longandfoster.com, william e wood and associates and rose and womble are two great realtor companies in the area! hope that helps! :) also  you can use spotcrime.com to find out about recently reported crimes in the area!

My husband got his orders last week and we are going to Norfolk VA. We were originally planning to live on base and still want to do that if something is available before he has to report but we have ran into some issues with him leaving for a work up the day after he reports and if on base housing isn't available before then (we are still waiting) then we need to find something off base. I know there are areas/neighborhoods surrounding Norfolk. I have done some research and my husband has asked around.. but I am still pretty iffy on where to look for houses to rent in good, safe neighborhoods. I would appreciate any advice...

Got a question for ladies in Pensacola...

My hubby is at A-school in Pensacola. He might  be there for 3-4 months, so we are trying to figure out how to get me moved there temporarily... Any suggestions on places to look for part time jobs and/or furnished rentals? Any suggestions are welcome! Thank you in advance for any advice anyone can share with me... Maybe it will make me be less stressed... :)

Thank you, SR Wife for the info! I will have to ask him to send those documents asap then. :)
and I read about DEERS on another website a few days ago but didn't quite follow what it is exactly. Your sailor has to enroll you in it to receive your benefits, correct? Thanks for your help.

Hi NAVYWIFE21, I'm also new but I do know that you can get your military ID without him if he fills out n sends you DD Form 1172 and he also has to enroll you in DEERS. I went by myself to an army base n they just ask for ID n SS n some places ask for a birth certificate. Hope this helps u.
