wanderlust: Thank you so much for your input! it is much appreciated! You were able to tell me things that I was unsure of. It is good to hear some insight from someone that went through it, or knows someone else who has. My husband was able to tell me a little but the more information the better!
It was very helpful reading what you know of it. Most of what you told me about California does sound a lot like what others have been able to share with me. I really appreciate it! So, thank you. I hope things are going well for you and your husband.
NW EGS- Since no one has responded yet, I’ll post what I know because I can understand being frustrated with the lack of information :) My husband went to boot camp with a SEAL contract but switched to Diver midway through. He was in DEP for 9 months prior so I did lots of research on SEAL training. 6-8 weeks of Pre BUDS sounds about right. Most guys get out of shape in boot camp so this time is used to get them back to BUDS ready. If there are a lot of guys waiting to go (more than needed for the next BUDS class) they do have to keep their PST scores high in order to go on to BUDS, not just passing. It also depends on when the next BUDS class is starting, which usually you won’t find any info about that except from your husband.
My husband graduated BC October 8th and the SEAL guys from his division left for California mid-December. There is an indoc phase of 4 weeks or so in CA before BUDS starts. I read spouses are not on orders to move there until after they complete Hell Week. A month or two in I think… I haven’t been up to date on all this for a while so someone please feel free to correct me :) Good luck to you both!
My husband is going to be graduating from Great Lakes on June 3. He will be going to BUDS for Seal training. It's frustrating since I'm not able to get much information from him about his orders after graduation. He was suppose to go straight to California, but now he is saying that he will be staying in Great Lakes for BUDs prep at least 6-8 weeks after graduation. Since we aren't able to talk on the phone, I'm not really understanding the process very well. Is there anyone who has had their husband go through this before, or is currently going through it?
