Hi Everyone! I'm a DEPer right now, I joined in May and I'll be shipping off to boot camp in Feb 2011. My rate is GM (Gunner's Mate) and I will be in A School at Great Lakes for apx 7 months after I graduate. My mom is on this site and I'm sure she'll join this group. We're from Epping (I noticed someone say something about the Holy Grail!). I'm so glad she'll have a place here to connect with other Navy moms in the area.

Thank you all for your support and encouragement, we wouldn't be able to do it if we didn't have you right next to us :)

I have a lot going on in Oct and I'm on call in Nov. Chris and his GF are due to have a baby and I'm going to FL. Maybe one of the last 2 Sat's in Oct? I hate to be a pain, and I also will drive pretty much anywhere:)

He did get off the base yesterday for his birthday, went to Chicago & kayaked the Chicago River with a friend, had a great time! I'm with you...anywhere is fine with me, just let me know when! Looking forward to meeting with all of you!

Wow, glad to see all the chatter here and that you're all excited about getting together! I'm in Hooksett so I'll go anywhere! Let's figure out when would be good for everyone. I'm free most weekends.

Yup, sure did feel the earthquake last night! 3rd one I've experienced in my lifetime and would be extremely happy never to experience one ever again.

Cherylynn, I believe I would be coming your way by 89. And Chris is in 3 years now. BC and PIR seems like just yesterday :(

And Arla, wherebouts do you live? I'm right outside Keene (west) in Spofford, I'm not sure but I think this is the first time I've seen you on this page....

cherylynn, The first week they had to take a finance class which is good. K knew most of what was being taught already about the banking etc but was good to have a refresher. Since then they had been cleaning bldgs & doing outside work in the mornings then they had the rest of the day to work on their physical training workout to get ready for the next phase of training in San Diego. He also had duty & watch in between all of that too. Right after they PIR they are allowed to have their cell phones, so we hear from K a couple times a week & are able to call him too. He is looking forward to going out there and we are too because we've not been to SD before just San Francisco.

Oh, wow. What has he been doing while waiting? Could he call you whenever or is it still like being in bc? He must be excited to be finally going.
Jonathan will be going to A school in MS. Jonathans older brother Kevin and his wife were just in San Diego last month. They were celebrating their 3rd anniversary. They toured around quite a bit and took lots of pictures of the ships, NSeals, etc. Beautiful area. Lots to do if he gets a chance...
