Well, haven't heard any news from our son - - decided to go ahead make  the airline reservations in the event that he will graduate on 3/4.  Keeping our fingers crossed!

LLAMAMAMA - only advise I can give - is Navy guaranteed our son a career in the medical field - Marnies couldn't guarantee anything!  Be sure your son knows what he is signing up for!  Good Luck!

Hi everyone, I haven't been on for a while due to the fact my son dropped a bombshell that he will be joining the Marines (infantry) he got a 74 on ASFAB  and is able to choose ANYTHING, why Infantry?.  I am so beside myself about his decision.   I will support his decision whole heartedly, but  I am having a hard time with this.  His twin sister is in the Navy, she's an IT and deploys in about a month after her leave home after A school.  Any helpful hints for my new potential Marine and his decision to join infantry????

Another discouraging letter from my son. . . saying they may hold his division back until the 25th.  good grief!  My heart is breaking for him . . . .
Comment by mamawalrus on February 16, 2011 at 5:14pm

Sharon.. he stays there in GL for Pre Buds, anywhere from 8 to 20 weeks, depending on him and the class size. Then when he passes that he will be sent to Coronado, Cali. Which will be much closer!

Sally....it is hard to explain.  That moment is one I will never forget, Even seeing the other divisions march in was wonderful,

But I will now always think of the word "Liberty" so much differently now!

PIR was amazing!!!!!!   Cant believe it is over already,,, now for the next journey!

We were able to have him from 5:00 Friday to 9:00 Sunday night, a blessing it was!

He has for sure changed and he is a young MAN now. He looked so handsome in his uniform, I could not take my eyes off him the first few hours.  He walked so tall and proud.
