Joyce, thank you.  My son is also 22 and he's my oldest. It's comforting to know that I'll  be able to speak with him often.  I'm trying to educate myself as best I can.  Thank you for sharing.  I really appreciate it.

Lana: once you know when he is leaving you will want to go on the boot camp moms site as well. There is so much information and support. I followed Navy moms for about a month before my son left. I was pretty well prepared for what was ahead for him. When you son goes he only goes with what is on his back. My son took his cell and was able to call me when his plane landed. They will mail it back to you with all his stuff. Keep you head up and stay informed that is the best advice I can give.

When they first leave BC they usually go to A school. Depending on what they are studying they can go on for more schooling. He is AT(aviation technician) he had to go on to C school. He was in FL for A school and now in Miss. In June he will go to VA to actually do his job for three years. We saw him when he graduated BC and he was home in July and again at Christmas. I speak with him on the phone at least 3 times aweek. that is what gets you through. He is my oldest and first to leave the nest. He is also older then most He is 22. College just wasnt his thing He tried for a few years. This has been the best thing for him. He has really grown up. We are very proud of him and his accomplishments.

Joyce, since I'm new here, can you tell me what C school is?  How is your son doing?  How have you handled him being away?
