Welcome to everyone who has joined. We'd love to hear your stories about your NFO.
My son graduated in 2004, was winged in 2006, has been on one deployment, and was recently selected for Test Pilot School- yes they take NFO's! It's been an exciting and sometimes emotional few years.
Please tell us a little about yourself and your NFO. If you have questions about training, deployment, or anything else, please ask. There will be several members with experience to help out the newbies.

We are about 2 years out, but the info would be good to have anyway...we will be visiting sometime and that would be a great alternative!

Hi Betty - Tracy's old condo was right on the water in the Perdido Key area. I don't remember any trailer parks out there :-) LOL....

We were also there for the March 26th graduation...we didn't leave till Tuesday. Floods were beginning to hit that day. Rained pretty hard and steady from Monday on. Roads were closing due to flooding and the freeway to the airport was down to one lane. Newport didn't seem to be getting hit with flooding when we left.

We were there for a March 26th graduation.....weather was not too bad...one day of rain/sleet/snow....in fact, that was graduation day...we arrived on Wed. which was a gorgeous day...sunny and fairly warm....Thurs., Sat., and Sun. were sunny but cool and windy....so, could have been worse...the heavy rains with all the flooding happened a week or so after we left, thank goodness. We drove around, too and saw the gorgeous mansions...such a pretty drive.....would love to go back someday.....we loved Newport...where in the midwest do you live???

Lou2949 - I meant to ask you how the weather was when you were in Newport? I figure you were there around late March, and I knew there was a bunch of flooding in Rhode Island. Did you run into that for graduation? We had rain and snow the whole time we were there, which was a little dismal, but we still managed to drive around and see all the mansions and get some good looks at the ocean.

Congrats, MeredithsMom - Winging feels so far away right now! I guess we will be happy for each step that they get through. My son did say that all the fleets are grounded for 6 weeks while they investigate the accident .... so sad!! It breaks my heart for those families. I am assuming that this will push back their schedule. Oh well, as they say "hurry up and wait"

pflute - maybe my son DOES have your daughter's apartment. I know it's right by the water... HIs roommate's mom told me it is sandwiched between two trailer parks, so that sounds pretty interesting!

I love hearing everyone's experiences - it really helps me to understand what is going on in my son's life, and what we have to look forward to. It's quite an adventure for all of us!

Prof M...yes, he has a dining table and 4 chairs...it is the set he grew up with..lol! James said he is probably buying another couch this week and that he was also looking at a pool table on Craigslist...oh the life! The place looks really nice...glad they are rooming together! James' furniture is arriving tomorrow, so he is moving in. And yes...glad payday is coming up!

Thanks MeredithsMom......I like any tidbit of info about what's ahead.....I find it all so interesting...will be anxious to hear about your daughter's winging ceremony next week.....you all can celebrate with pride and joy her amazing accomplishment while at the same time hold the families of those in the crash yesterday close to your heart as we all do....

Lou: Her roommate failed her first check ride in IFS, so it was flying not academics. API was OK. She did fine on the classroom work. Had some trouble on the helodunker but she made it through. Or was that in primary? It all blurrs together!
