Can anyone tell me the best place to get ongoing information about the HSC22 det on the Iwo Jima?

Jess...He will be still be on shore duty in Naples.

Grasshopper: If he isn't on a ship, I don't believe they have an FRG. I'm currently on the Executive Board of the FRG for my husband's ship, and he keeps asking me what I'm going to do in 2013 when he goes to shore duty and I can't be apart of a FRG anymore. When he goes to Naples, will he be on a ship or shore duty?

Theresa...My son is an MA and stationed on base not on a ship.  Do you know if they have an FRG for those Sailors not stationed on a ship.  He will be leaving for Naples, Italy in a couple of months and I would love to be able to be a part of something like that in Naples.  Where would he need to list me for this?

Who knows what the future holds for our Sailors. A lot of the talk of downsizing our Navy is upsetting to us all. However, remember that the needs of the Navy change from year to year.  Maybe next year things will be better.

My mother died on January 25th. My mom was a very important part of my life and my children's. The Navy allowed my son to come home for her funeral. Of course we had to go through the proper channels. ie notify the American Red Cross.

As a mother you are eligible to sign up to receive e-mails from the FRG and Ombudsman that contain information on not on the ERB, but different going-ons with the ship and what not. All you have to do is e-mail the FRG and they verify your information with your sailor. This information is not only valuable to Mom's, but to all family members.

Actually, the Navy counts as family whoever is on the sailor's page 2. The page 2 is not just exclusive to wives and children. The sailor can add parents, legal guardians, brothers, sisters, whoever is in his immediate family. These are also the only people that they (technically) allow you to take emergency leave for. Like when my mother-in-law had a stroke, since she is on my husband's page 2, he was allowed to take leave to see her. If you are not on your sailor's page 2 and therefore not classified as "family" by the Navy, that's an issue you need to take up with your sailor. As for the person who said that at boot camp, they were not only wrong but rude.
