Kathyl, I just read your profile and my son is also part of HM14.  This is the first time I have actually met a Mom from my son's squadron and I'm excited to have someone to talk to.

kathyl, my son is also in Norfolk and part of the helicopter squadron. He talked with us today and said that he would be on watch in a hangar starting tomorrow night.  He will probably call us again tomorrow and give us an update.  I know lots of the helicopter squadrons were put on ships. I'll post here if I get any info as I hope you will.

We just received new updates for Irene's path and it's taken a turn a little more to the west.  They are now expecting to hit Morehead City here in NC and maps are then showing the eye going directly over Virginia Beach.  I live in Raleigh area of NC and they are saying we may even feel tropical storm force winds here.

My MA was off yesterday and is supposed to be off today.  However he is on standby and fully expects to be called in today.  He works shore side and drives one of the patrol boats.  He said originally someone in his Chain of Command thought it would be a good idea for all the "boat teams" to stay on base in the open barracks starting yesterday but someone above said that was not necessary at this point.  He was happy about that!  He did say that as of this moring all piers but one would be cleared so I knew the ships were heading out.  My prayers to ALL in the path of Irene but especially our Sailors that may be in harms way!!  A huge Thanks to all you N4M Sisters and your prayers and support!!

My son and his ship are heading out from Norfolk early tomorrow morning. I guess that would be evacuating. We're west coast folks, so this will be new. God bless them and all in harms way.
