Hey moms, just wanted to mention that hubby and I (and possibly youngest offspring, if I can drag his teenage behind out of bed early enough), are going to be at the Farmer's Market in Ramseur tomorrow!
It's the very first day of our town's very first farmer's market - it should be interesting! We're taking fresh eggs from our hens, strawberry chipotle jam, and spicy pickled eggs. We're hoping to add some things like homemade soap and vanilla, if it looks like the market is going to take off. Cross your fingers for us, or better yet come visit!
I got to speak with my son in GC on Monday (it's been a crazy week for me so this is the first time I've been on the boards since then). He asked me if I'd heard about "stuff" and I told him I had. I think he wanted to reassure us that he was OK. Actually, this is honestly the happiest he's been since about middle school! The classwork is challenging, but he's really getting a kick out of mastering it. About the only thing I'd wish for is maybe some more relationships. He's like me - it's so hard for him to introduce himself to people, and he feels self-conscious.
He said the man-eating gnats are a major annoyance, but on the plus side he's got his room to himself and only one other guy in the suite! His roommate got married, and they haven't given him a roommate yet so he's enjoying the space while he's got it. LOL
NCNarrator, Mine is the equivalent of the S50? or M50? I understand the need for the shorter seat height. That was one of the deciding factors when I bought mine. I need both my front and rear carbs rebuilt, but the doctors have taken me off mine until I get much more stable with my heart so at this point it is a, "What's the use right now?"
Hope you can ride it to our next IHOP get-together!
Thanks Mary! Mine is a 2006 Boulevard S40 (it used to be called the 650 Savage). We've been trying to find a bike for THREE years now, but I'm 5'3 and with my short legs even some of the bikes with low seat heights were too wide for comfort.
I rode through downtown High Point, and then Hwy 220 to get it home yesterday, and I was really pleased with how responsive it was in traffic. Particularly because I swear some people DO watch for you...as TARGET practice! It does need a tune up though (it's been sitting for a while), so I'll be buying a manual this weekend - definitely needs an oil change and the carburetor cleaned, and I think it's running too lean. Fun holiday weekend!
NCNarrator, Nice Suzuki! I have the older version (Intruder VS 800). I love the Suzukis. You will definitely enjoy it. Watch for the cars cause they often won't watch for you! Safe riding.
Look what I got today!
My son wants to know if I'll be riding it down to visit him in Goose Creek - the answer is NO!! The traffic down there is crazy enough in our car. LOL He's graduating from A school in July (probably - you know how that is), and then he'll probably be waiting to start the next step. I think he's hoping he'll get to come home while he waits, but apparently they haven't been letting them do that very much.
We are in Kings Mountain. In fact I am a home health nurse and will probably be driving up to forest city this weekend to cover some patients for them that way.
Im in Forest City, NC
